I don't have much time to actually experiment with ideas these days, but I can still find a little time here and there to just let my thoughts go and see where they lead me. Here's a thought I was playing with yesterday. Suppose for a minute that we'd have the ultimate computer, memory is so large that it doesn't form any barriers, and CPU and memory speed is high enough to practically do anything we want.

Finally I hit a situation that clearly shows that I need to combine all meshes somewhere in the editor in real-time. This is unfortunate because I'd have to force the user to create parent objects for brushes that hold the meshes and I'm afraid this could be confusing to users when they create a brush (without a parent object) and nothing shows up.

So since my last post I've implemented Exponential Shadow Maps (not really that visible in these images in retrospect) and implemented Irradiance Volumes. Samstag, 8. Juni 2013. Der Hund hatte heute einen dicken Knubbel an der Schulter. Es stellte sich heraus, dass eine fettgesogene Monsterzecke war! Die haben wir dann mit einem Zeckenhaken entfernt. Diese Geräte finde ich am praktischsten und einfachsten zu benutzen. Sie funktionieren bei Mensch und Tier, und sind so klein, dass man sie immer bei Wanderungen mitnehmen kann.
