Life on (and off) the trails of Southern California. Most of the trails I have explored over the 2008-2009 year come from Jerry Shad’s Afoot and Afield San Diego County. The hiking Bible for San Diego hikers. It has detailed descriptions of trails complete with length, elevation, level of difficulty, best time to go, and maps. I highly recommend this book. He even has a Los Angeles. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Fill in your details below or click an icon to log in:.

Life on (and off) the trails of Southern California. Laquo; Why We Hike. New Year’s Day Hike. Palomar Mountain State Park. November 8, 2009 by hikinglibrarian. I returned to the lot around 2pm after covering about 8-9 miles. Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend hiking here as the dead trees are depressing. Instead, I would go to the Laguna Mountains. But the drive to the observatory and overlooking Lake Henshaw is rather impressive. Posted in Palomar Mountain State Park. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.
