Random Scratchings: The Power of Asking "Why?"

CONTACT: ED.FASSIO@GMAIL.COM 702.879.8205. Tuesday, March 11, 2014. The Power of Asking "Why? Will tell you everything you need to make the next decision. This can literally apply to just about any situation you'll ever have to deal with and I've found this to be true in both business and personal dealings. I suppose that is why toddlers ask "Why? So much. They're probably just trying to figure out why you're doing something and whether or not they should do it too! The way people answer "Why? Because th...

CONTACT: ED.FASSIO@GMAIL.COM 702.879.8205. Sunday, March 20, 2011. So What to Do After 20 Years of Tech? So we've all read the headlines and heard the news: Music sales are down. Everyone's still illegally downloading and the stuff that's being delivered from the giant labels is overly controlled and only represents 1% of all the produced music in the world. That doesn't even begin to address the huge amount of underground, self-released titles out there. Gone Huge touring budgets for new artists? Today,...

CONTACT: ED.FASSIO@GMAIL.COM 702.879.8205. Friday, April 8, 2011. Yup, I said it. Sort of. Looks like people are paying attention. Good. The original title of the Press Release was:. Want to Succeed in the Record Business? Then Don’t Focus on Selling Records says Itchy Metal. Interesting how the press changes the original statement of "Don't focus on selling records" to a full-blown "stop selling records". I guess that headline is catchier, albeit more controversial. Here's what they printed:.

Random Scratchings: Playing to Win

CONTACT: ED.FASSIO@GMAIL.COM 702.879.8205. Friday, September 14, 2012. I am amazed how much pain it takes to cause changes in behavior. Warnings and headlines stimulate intrigue, at best. Examples are interesting but do not always generate empathy or activity. By default, there is often a selfish belief that we are in some way special or exempt. A good counter-measure to complacency and indifference is inspiration. This fuels motivation, which enables change and one of the more inspiring things in th...

Little did I know this was a great set-up for a later lesson that I would have with one of the artists I was managing then, the teen metal band “Control the Chaos”. 8221; I asked. The four teenagers nodded in unison. After a slight pause and a brief chuckle, they shared the same response, “Isn’t he supposed to be...8221; I a...

CONTACT: ED.FASSIO@GMAIL.COM 702.879.8205. Friday, October 21, 2011. Just in time for Halloween: A Zombie Story! Entitlement. It comes as a result of the way we are conditioned in a capitalistic, democratic society. Work hard, you deserve rewards. Don’t get them, it is your right to complain. Not heard? Am I encouraging that we should work hard for the sheer enjoyment of breaking a sweat and breaking our backs? Did you find that inspiration motivating enough to take action? If so, then you have experienc...
