ART SPACE

Inspiration and news from Sandra Meech. Monday, 13 April 2015. Colour, Colour, Colour. Life has been busy - working with many textile projects that were interupted with a spate of colds, coughs and illness in the family. I was sorry to have to miss the recent opening of Quilt Art's Dialogue exhibition in Heidelberg at the end of March and could not attend, due to illness. Back to my roots. Getting a brush in my hand (except for painting paper and cloth for collage in stitched textiles) was wonderful to r...

http://sandrameech-art.blogspot.com/2013/12/seasons-greetings-why-has-it-taken-me.html

Inspiration and news from Sandra Meech. Thursday, 12 December 2013. So, why has it taken me so long to write another entry? Well no excuse, except to say life has been busy and full of good things. Seems to me the last time I wrote we were off to Yorkshire for a holiday. It was great and it seems so long ago I won't bore you with all the wonderful photos of the Dales. I did get my piece for the Studio 21 'Chinese Whispers' finished and we had a super exhibition in October. I am an artist, author and teac...

Inspiration and news from Sandra Meech. Friday, 21 February 2014. What a winter we have had so far! Working in black and white and neutral tones, I have been doing a great deal of sketching and mark making in graphite, ink and pencil, trying to capture the feeling of the landscape. I can see many of these images being taken further onto cloth with stitch. A whole new body of work, I think. Thanks for reading and will try and keep you posted more regularly in the future. 24 February 2014 at 00:10. I think...

ART SPACE: February 2011

http://sandrameech-art.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html

Inspiration and news from Sandra Meech. Saturday, 26 February 2011. Recently, while teaching at Farncombe Estates, I was told about a Butterfly Exhibition at Wisley Gardens and decided to pay a visit. It had to be the best day this month and although cold, there were blue, cloudless skies. The glass houses were completed in 2007 and are beautiful. I think I can see a sketchbook or two with the contrast of hard/soft, humid/dry, dark/light or green and browns. In two days we paint paper and stitch together...

Twisted Stitcher (Oz style). The trials and tribulations of someone who would like to consider herself a textile artist (amongst other things), but invariably feels quite inadequate! Thursday, January 20, 2011. Entered Dale's (The Thread Studio) competition on Facebook for a pack of Victory rayon threads and shock of shocks.I won! I'm on a bit of a roll, because I won a raffle prior to Christmas and now, this.up until the raffle, I had never won anything. So this is a bit of a surprise. Thanks, Dale!

Thea Belecz Art and Musings. Welcome to my Art, Studio, and General Commentary! Welcome to my Art, Studio and General Commentary! Monday, November 12, 2012. I once worked as a cartographer and loved the swirls and eddies of elevation lines and the interpretive story they told. Often there would be a sparsely dotted line in the cleavage of a canyon or between elongated alpine lakes. In the key at the bottom of the map these dots were said to represent, " intermittent streams. Silk beach grass overlay.

Thea Belecz Art and Musings. Welcome to my Art, Studio, and General Commentary! Welcome to my Art, Studio and General Commentary! Tuesday, September 27, 2011. Post Art and Pre Surgery. I always have a period of time after completing one of my larger pieces of bumping around, feeling distracted and being at odds with myself. Indecision and self doubt abound as I critique the piece just finished and ponder my next move. This is what my yard looks like right now - a glorious fall indeed! Links to this post.

Hoppa till sekundärt innehåll. 3 december, 2014.

creative journeys

Sunday, September 03, 2006. Creative Journeys - the first day. My first stab at a diary entry. 'Creative Journeys'. Researching caribou skin clothing and the stitched textile wallhangings of Baker Lake in Arctic Canada for the Diploma, inspired many art quilts and textiles for about 5 years. Different themes have developed since then, each being a creative journey on its own, but I come back to art, design and photography as the essential tool in my textiles today. Have a look on.
