http://fellrangers.blogspot.com/2014/03/doras-field.html
Central and East Lakes Rangers Blog. Friday, 7 March 2014. Path repairs at Dora's Field. Since our last update we've been busily working away in Dora's Field, at Rydal, just outside Ambleside. Our work was replacing some old slate steps with something that would be easier to walk on, would be in keeping with the garden and would also last indefinitely. National Trust Fell Rangers: Replacing step stiles & laying a hedge.
http://fellrangers.blogspot.com/2015/03/replacing-step-stiles-laying-hedge.html
Central and East Lakes Rangers Blog. Monday, 2 March 2015. Replacing step stiles and laying a hedge. Over the last few weeks we've continued our estate work around Langdale valley. Our first job was to lay a section of hedge next to the road near Loughrigg Tarn. Hedge ready to be laid. The hedge was predominantly Beech and contained a few trees that had been previously laid before. Some of the trees were over 15cm diameter, making it extra difficult to lay with just billhooks and pruning saws. Needless t...

The job was complicated by the first few met...

Any bedrock sticking up into the new path was broken with crowbars and sledgehammers until it was low enough to cover with gravel. Starting to build up the edge. Digging in the drain pipe. Turfing the freshly graveled path. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Central and East Lakes Rangers.
