So here I am, sitting in my chemo chair, waiting for my premeds to come so that I can drift off into my benadryl haze. Better sleep now because I'll be up later from the steroids. What would it be like if I could swish away this cancer from my body, just like that? If I could erase the damage every act of my impatience has done to my son? What would life be like if we could do that?

I've been observing my son, Benjamin, a lot lately, and really admiring his ability to stay in the present. Why are children so good at that, and adults not so much?
