Tuesday, 6 January 2015. The issue raises the fundamental question about rights and responsibilities. Is it right that the tax payer should fund expensive procedures where there is not a corresponding responsibility from the individual to care for themselves, both pre and post operatively? Not, I would suggest, the best reason for embracing faith, but it does make the point. May our faith encourage us as we enter 2015 to embrace those things that make for wholeness. Loyal radical: November 2014
http://steveontheweb.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Friday, 21 November 2014. A TIME TO REMEMBER. With the dark evenings and the colder weather, it’s time to hunker down, get out the warmer duvet and turn up the thermostat. November is also the month to remember. Not only do we have the great memorials of Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day, we also have more recent anniversaries. Listening on the radio yesterday the 10th anniversary of the tragic derailment at the Ufton Nervet railway crossing was being talked about. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Wednesday, 3 September 2014. All is safely gathered in. Quentin Letts produced an interesting reflection on the current situation facing Methodism in his Radio 4 programme What's the point of. You can listen to it here. As we enjoy the comfort of the familiar harvest rituals let us also be disturbed by the need both physical and spiritual that there is all around us. The picture above shows the Badham’s sheep ‘safely gathered in’ at their new home in Devon. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Father of the bride.

Loyal radical: March 2008

Monday, 31 March 2008. The church is at a kairos moment as it emerges from Christendom, facing highly vocal sceptics like Richard Dawkins, yet there is a hunger for meaning in a world full of superficiality. May God give us the wisdom and hope to use this moment. Wednesday, 12 March 2008. On the edge of? Tom Stuckey’s book On the Edge of Pentecost. It has links with dramatic numerical growth. Tom confirms this on page 122 when he says we must plan for expansion! This would not be so easily identified wit...

Wednesday, 7 January 2015. 1 Stepping back. This is a way of looking at the bigger picture to help promote understanding. This is particularly helpful when the situation feels like a personal attack. Externalising a problem entails thinking about the problem as stories. 4 Using third parties. Such people can be useful in helping to frame the meaning of the conflict and uncovering concerns and interests of the other parties. They can also give legitimacy and clout to the work of the Tempered Radic...I am ...

Thursday, 2 October 2014. Nothing new about 'Evidence-based Healthcare'. On the 18th October the church traditionally celebrates the Feast of St Luke. As Luke was a physician, church and health communities use this anniversary to celebrate the work of healing. In a book called ‘Pills for the Poor’ Samuel Rogal explores Wesley’s contribution to the physical well-being of his followers. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Father of the bride.
