Friday, April 23, 2010. Soak It All In. Well, it's almost over. This time tomorrow, I will be in Miami, probably sleeping in some hotel or stressing out about all the insane things I have to get done in the two weeks before I graduate. Did I say that right? Two weeks before I graduate? Five and a half weeks in Belize already over? Keri and Katy actually convinced me to go out tonight and hang out? I really can't believe it, but it's true, and time really does fly when you're having fun. One of Dr. Ca...

Follow along as 17 student teachers spend 5 weeks in Belize teaching in the local schools of San Pedro! Thursday, May 6, 2010. When people ask me "How was Belize? I find it so difficult to truely convey the answer. Words that come to mind are Amazing, Beautiful, Wonderful, Indescribeble, and of course Un-Belize-Able! But I know I will never be able to fully express what going to Belize really meant to me. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Dr Kubasko's International Studies page-Belize. Land of the Free.

Follow along as 17 student teachers spend 5 weeks in Belize teaching in the local schools of San Pedro! Wednesday, April 7, 2010. Every child is an artist. Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up. While I was able to enjoy a few of the performances, I was often working to hard to see many of the acts! This was an experience I feel will stay with me as I think back on my time in Belize. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Dr Kubasko's International Studies page-Belize.

Follow along as 17 student teachers spend 5 weeks in Belize teaching in the local schools of San Pedro! Monday, March 29, 2010. I want to ride my BI-Cycle. On our second Saturday, a group of us decided to rent bikes and bike to the north end of the Island. I admit I was a little nervous since I couldn't remembe the last time I got on a bike, but I guess the expression "its like riding a bike" has to come from somewhere right! It's Belizeable!: Comparisons
http://hollomaninbelize.blogspot.com/2010/04/comparisons.html
Monday, April 19, 2010. Which isn't to say things weren't as western. There were certainly just as many western amenities and comforts around for the tourists. However, you could tell that the locals just lived a little bit differently than they do in San Pedro. Things were more laid back, there wasn't really a night life to speak of, and there was more farmland, and more people of Mayan descent - or so I was told. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). It's Belizeable!: Education In Belize
http://hollomaninbelize.blogspot.com/2010/04/education-in-belize.html
Tuesday, April 20, 2010. One of Dr. Catapano's prompts for the Belize field experience was to write about how children are viewed in Belize culture. How children are viewed, she wrote, influences many things related to education and public policy, not to mention social aspects to how children, teenagers, and students are viewed in education. It's quite a difficult thing to write about, and I waited awhile before mentioning it. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Dr Kubasko's Web Page. Jeanne H.'s Blog.

Follow along as 17 student teachers spend 5 weeks in Belize teaching in the local schools of San Pedro! Tuesday, May 4, 2010. Land of the Free". Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning, Isla Bonita Primary School would have assembly and as a part of their morning assembly they would sing the Belize National Anthem. Listening to them sing would remind me of our own anthem and I was interested in hearing the differences. Here is the words to the Belize National Anthem as well as a video with the song.

Belize is amazing, and I've just been overwhelmed with all the cool stuff I've had a chance to do this past week. I taught in the schools all week. I am teaching the novel The Schoolmaster. Wednesday, March 24, 2010. Basically, if you haven't figured it out, I'm having a great time, and I'm enjoying observing the kids and teachers. Like I said elsewhere, teenagers se...
