Choosing No Car: Choosing a Car (and farming)
http://choosingnocar.blogspot.com/2011/08/choosing-car-and-farming.html
A family in Boston getting rid of their car. Tuesday, August 23, 2011. Choosing a Car (and farming). So why keep the car? It's my fault. Tracy and the kids could continue on without it. Tracy gets to work fine by bike or T, the kids can walk/bike/scooter to school. Grocery shopping is easier by bike than car much of the time. We have zipcar. But I want to farm. This fall I'll be taking a Farm Business Planning class, through the New Entry Sustainable Farming Project. Living close to schools (1 mile).

Choosing No Car: March 2011
http://choosingnocar.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
A family in Boston getting rid of their car. Monday, March 28, 2011. Oddly, the main challenge for me in biking isn't from winter, it's from spring gardening. I just can't effectively carry some of the more serious loads of compost, soil, or long poles/trellises with my bike. If, however, in the following year, I wanted to rent one of their incubator fields, to set up a mini-farm, I'm not sure if I could manage it. It might be possible to do it without a car, but it'll take some serious planning.

Choosing No Car: January 2010
http://choosingnocar.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
A family in Boston getting rid of their car. Saturday, January 2, 2010. Zipcar for the holidays. There are some cheaper car rental places around, very small companies, but the online reviews of them are pretty scary. If anyone in the Boston area knows of reputable ones, I'd be interested in hearing about them. For now, though, it looks like Zipcar will help us out over the holidays. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Choosing No Car: February 2011
http://choosingnocar.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
A family in Boston getting rid of their car. Sunday, February 6, 2011. When the streets are icy, I stick to getting around by foot and by T. Unfortunately, in heavy storms, the T gets super crowded and somewhat unreliable. In December, I ended up walking all the way from Brookline to Cambridge in a snowstorm to go to a party at the Central Square Theatre. I walked three miles each way along the bus route, and I was never passed by a bus. This winter, with almost 70 inches of snow so far, has definitely b...
