DoAn Art: May 2012
http://doanart.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html
Thursday, May 31, 2012. Tracing Ancestral Totemic Roots. The name Galbraith was derived from the Gaelic "gall-bhrealnach", which means a stranger, or foreign Briton. Indicating that the family called Galbraith came from outside Gaelic lands. Scottish history scholar Tim Clarkson. This could also explain having a gluten intolerance (which is common for those of northern European heritage). Is this why I find much personal growth coming from facing and overcoming difficult obstacles? DoAn Art is a sponsore...

DoAn Art: March 2012
http://doanart.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Saturday, March 17, 2012. Horses from Chauvet Cave. Last June I went to see the film Cave of Forgotten Dreams. A documentary by Werner Herzog about the cave art of Chauvet Cave in France. I knew when I watched this film that it affected me deeply, but I had no idea that it would be part of a catalyst that would change me. As I sit here on the bank of the "river" that I dragged myself out from ( see last post. I began reading Cave Paintings and the Human Spirit. We know hardly anything about the people th...

DoAn Art: Weaving a Way in 2013
http://doanart.blogspot.com/2013/01/weaving-way-in-2013.html
Monday, January 07, 2013. Weaving a Way in 2013. My grandmother, Dellmarie Galbraith. Passed away in April of 2012. But getting back to creating was stalled further by an illness that to this day has gone undiagnosed. I spent the remaining of 2012 seeing doctors, getting test after test, undergoing procedure after procedure, with little answers to the cause of abdominal pain, significant weight loss (over 25 pounds). I have since embraced the notion of slowing down and taking my time. While my stamina is...

DoAn Art: September 2012
http://doanart.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Wednesday, September 19, 2012. Needle-felted sculpture by Antony Galbraith. The Red Fox represents adaptability, shrewdness, attention to detail, invisibility, fleet-footedness and quick-thinking and action. If Fox appears to you it may signal it is time to move like the wind: quick, silent and unnoticed. It could be time to observe a situation silently, paying more attention to actions rather than words. Visit here of more information on Animal Totems. Just click on the link below:. DoAn Art: Why Teaching Matters (To Me)
http://doanart.blogspot.com/2013/03/why-teaching-matters-to-me.html
Wednesday, March 27, 2013. Why Teaching Matters (To Me). Last week I started offering classes and workshops on needle-felting techniques. Just a week in and I am thoroughly enjoying sharing my skills with others. It got me thinking, why is teaching art and crafts so important to me? As a professional artist, teaching these classes also helps other people, who are not artists by vocation, to appreciate and better understand the process and work that goes into the artwork I create. This is especially i...
