Michael Tarro began taking piano lessons at six years old. He studied classical, jazz, and popular piano styles for twelve years. Even as an adolescent he achieved numerous musical awards. In high school Michael supplemented his piano lessons by taking courses in harmony and theory, as well as private studies in solfeggi and counterpoint.
