http://khmerdreams.blogspot.com/2006_04_01_archive.html
Welcome to our Dave and Laura's blog from Cambodia. We hope you will enjoy reading some of the observations and short stories from everydaylife here in the 'Bodge' - a country journeying from the nightmare of the past towards dreams of a better future. Tuesday, April 25, 2006. There is a strange divide happening in Cambodia, particularly in its capital, Phnom Penh. The divide is not so much between rich and poor or urban and rural. Its between foreigners and locals. THE WORLD OF THE LOCALS. But after sev...

Thursday, August 24, 2006. What do you get if you mix a moto, a left turn and a white girl on a bicycle? In a country where they don’t speak English? After Dave arrived, following my phone call from the side of the road, I was escorted on a stretcher in an...

teachingbarefoot: A Khmer Wedding
http://teachingbarefoot.blogspot.com/2007/11/khmer-wedding.html
Sunday, November 18, 2007. I was fortunate enough to be invited to a Khmer wedding last night. One of the school secretaries was getting married and the whole staff was asked to come along. And enjoy the celebration. Things kicked off in the morning at 7am with a fruit carrying ceremony, where people bring the happy couple gifts of fruit (and because it's cambodia. This includes coke, biscuits, chocolate etc! Turned on a radio and started gambling away good style over some vigorous. Supported by a live b...

teachingbarefoot: A hint of pride

Monday, November 5, 2007. A hint of pride. Shetland has been voted one of the world's top unspoiled island destinations. Mmmm, after several months in the tropics, I could do with a sniff of that fresh sea air! Just beware if you upset the locals! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Saturday, November 17, 2007. Get your boffin hat out. Which I'm guessing means I use the occasional big word, or write in a confusingly obtuse style. Found this link at Jesus Creed. teachingbarefoot: Birthdays and Christmas
http://teachingbarefoot.blogspot.com/2007/11/its-30th-of-november-and-ive-just-spend.html
Thursday, November 29, 2007. It's the 30th of November and I've just spend 2 hours marking science tests while listening to the Sufjan Stevens Christmas albums. Such wonderful music, it even made me forget that I just about ripped a toe nail off during breakfast this morning. Teaching barefoot is a dangerous business. Such whimsical, sublime and quirky arrangements of all the old classics. If you don't have a copy make sure it goes in your letter to Santa this year! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Friday, 13 July 2007. One little boy was loads of help clearing what we were digging and moving our soil about. Its so great to see a little 12 year old boy so willing to help out. So our holes were dug (one by me all alone! Our trenches were dug and evened out (straight lines are very hard to keep to) and the whole area was levelled out and grass removed. We then left the playground at about one. We decided to head off to the swimming pool to clean off and relax. Thanks for your prayers, hope you are en...
