We weren’t in much of a hurry to do anything after the excitement of yesterday, so we just bummed around the camp most of the day. Canyon campground still has snow on it, so we cruised on down to Fishing Bridge area and settled in at Bridge Bay (the RV park at Fishing Bridge is $40/night. we don't need to plug in that bad). Tuesday, June 16, 2009. Day 8: Up into a storm. June 5, 2009. Rick had a waterbottle malfunction and ended up getting more wet from that than from the actual storm so he wasn’t very happy. But we got back and changed into dry clothes and then he was better. This is what the storm looked like from a safe distance away with the canyon we were hiking in. Tuesday, June 16, 2009. Dat 10: the drive part 2. June 7, 2009. Today we’re driving though central Oregon to just south of Crater Lake National Park. It’s another long drive but the weather should be better. I drove until Burns and then Rick took over until Bend, OR. We were hoping to find a nice little coffee shop that had internet but we ended up finding a pub (Rick didn’t complain! Tuesday, June 16, 2009. Day 15: northern redwood nap. June 12, 2009. There was a great deal of wild flowers (like wild roses and wild irises) and even large patches of succulents! Critters: Hairy woodpecker, red-breasted sapsucker, stellar’s jays, Western gull, seals, cormorants, black oystercatchers, ravens, winter wrens, Bewick’s wren, swainson’s thrush, varied thrush (call only), turkey vultures, robins and the other usual suspects. The policy for California State Parks is one night only for non-reservations. It was annoying but what can you do? We saw sea lions and a small family of sea otters (a mamma and two older babies).
