Little Trouble In Big China. I Can’t Feel My Toes – Visiting 桂林 Part 1. Asymp; Leave a comment. Zach and I passed through Guílín during Spring Festival. I knew it would be cold…Guangxi province is not. Far south of Hunan. What I didn’t anticipate that the cold would be accompanied by nearly constant, icy rain. We could tell it was a nice place, and that Yangshuo was BEAUTIFUL, but mainly it was miserably freezing rainy cold cold cold. This is a children’s clothing store. Obviously. Sun and Moon pagodas.

We’ve arrived, Ben’s sister-in-law reported as our driver turned off the van’s engine and let his vehicle roll down a slight decline and into a square of a few buildings that looked as if they bled dirt and grime. Is the party far from here? Ben’s sister-in-law measured the distance in her head; her eyes looked as if she were trying to get a glimpse of her hairline.

Dave's Travel Blog. A Party in Pushi (Part Two). Jamming with Mr. Zhou →. March 8, 2012 · 3:48 pm. A Party in Pushi (Part Three). Those who have any sort of regular contact with non-native English-speaking Chinese people can attest to the fact that Chinese-English is wrought with codes. Is a ubiquitous word that can, at times, mean. And, at other times, mean. No way in hell. Are all polite ways to express one’s deep resentment but overriding impatience with an overly-entitled foreign teacher. Ben and his...

The aspects of pleasure I receive through collecting, braiding, and adorning these objects becomes a source of inquiry as I investigate what it means to explore notions of self and identity through excess, artifice, pleasure and play; highlighting the humorous and conflicting ways these materials inhabit our lives. Head in the clouds, feet on the ground. It is what it is. i am what I am. The realm of weird. Last night I dreamt a lengthy and strange dream… Involving my ex. I think it’s because I ran into him a week ago. Strange nevertheless. 128514; And I distinctly remember painting my nails. I was actually a little confused by their current color when I woke up because I was so certain I had painted them in real life. Always barefoot, sometimes with cute painted toes. So obsessed with this song 😍.

Somewhere Between Best and Worst Case. April 5, 2011 in Reflections. The waiting game sucks. There are countless, more likely, possibilities in between. Emotionally, that doesn’t matter....The risk ...

Just another WordPress.com site. Zai Jian, Chenxi! May 30, 2012. But what will I miss about Chenxi? A Voyage Into the (True) Chinese Countryside. May 13, 2012. I have spent this entire year thinking that I live in no-man’s-land China. My town is small and isolated, to be sure, and compared to the other teachers we are far closer to rural China than most. However, this weekend my fellow WorldTeacher and I forayed into a part of China that made me realize just how much more rural China can get. However, th...

Paris Seine Rises to Highest in 34 Years. Paris Seine River increased to its greatest level in more than 34 years, interfering with train traffic and triggering the Louvre museum to shut to move some its art work from flood-prone storage locations. As downpours lashed France over the last a number of days, they flooded towns, brought down power lines and obstructed train and roadway traffic in large areas of the center and the northeastern parts of the nation.
