Saturday, 17 January 2009. Anemometer and Weather Vane. Here are two of the wind measuring instruments, Anemometer and Weather Vane, that will be attached to the top of the Weather Station. The Anemometer measures wind speed and the Weather Vane signals wind direction. These two pieces now have to go off to be galvanised and painted white. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Flintham Weather Garden: February 2010

Sunday, 7 February 2010. The Second Bookbinding Workshop. Sarah Brown shows the group how to sew signatures. Second bookbinding workshop took place in the Flintham Village Hall this weekend. It was a very damp and misty day and the temperature was only 4 degrees Celcius at the Weather Station. Although in the hall it was nice and cosy, the ideal conditions for bookbinding. We were joined for the day by the local community and members of the Nottingham Calligraphers. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

As it was such a beautiful day we decided to run the workshop outside in the Weather Garden. Below you can see Sarah Brown. Demonstrating to the group the precision involved in bookbinding. Flintham Weather Garden: Play Surface
http://flinthamweathergarden.blogspot.com/2009/05/play-surface.html
Monday, 4 May 2009. The re-cycled rubber surface (made in The Netherlands from old truck tyres) has arrived. We've now cut it to shape and when installed it will sit around the base of the Weather Station on the side where the steps are. This cushioned surface feels great underfoot and will offer a degree of protection for anyone who falls/jumps off the steps! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Links to project partners. Flintham Weather Garden: December 2008
http://flinthamweathergarden.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 17 December 2008. Here is a prototype for a section of the collecting cabinets that are to form part of the screens that surround the Weather Garden. The intention is that people will add objects into the cabinets and an external garden collection will grow. In the photograph are a few objects that I have collected over the years, they usually live in the cabinet on my studio wall. Wednesday, 3 December 2008. 1/10 scale kinetic maquette for the Weather Station made from paper.

Monday, May 3, 2010. Open House at Companion Animal Hospital. A couple of months ago I took Dr. Marcia Izo's picture with her two Golden Retrievers, Katie and Sally. Dr. Izo is a vet at Companion Animal Hospital. In Traverse City, MI. A few weeks ago they called to ask if I would participate in their Open House that was held this past Saturday. I of course jumped at the chance to meet other animal lovers and introduce them to my pet photography. One of my great loves. Dr Izo, Sally and Katie. There is a ...

July Holiday Part 1 of 5. My blogjune efforts fizzled out at the end there. I caught a cold/flu bug and was out of service for a good week, then needed to scramble to sort out the details of our July holiday. I booked a few days off work so Tom and I could have an action packed holiday in Scotland and England. Herein lies the longest post ever about our first day in Edinburgh. It did set the scene for the rest of the trip, as it was definitely a walking/hiking holiday. I’m not sure why we were worr...

Liberal Democrat, Councillor, Trade Unionist, Public Speaker. A Flabulous Girls Guide to Underwear. So this weekend has ended with me tidying my bedroom. A tedious task I don’t do anywhere near as often as I ought. I get bored or distracted. Distracted and bored. But this weekend I managed it. I took chaos, moved chaos and put chaos into other places. Some of it survived and some of it ended up in the bin. So dear reader do I keep these pants? Love me, love my curves. I’m thinking I should ditc...I am fr...
