http://srchristoffersen.blogspot.com/2015/07/gone-riding.html
Dead Men Tell No Tales. Friday, July 31, 2015. Scott flew into town for a couple days this week. Though his visit was a short one, and his time was not his own, we made sure to carve out just enough time to get up to. The mountains for a ride. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Dead Men Tell No Tales: Foraging
http://srchristoffersen.blogspot.com/2015/08/foraging.html
Dead Men Tell No Tales. Sunday, August 2, 2015. Poor Sidney didn't know what she'd signed up for when she came to dinner last night. Today," I said, pulling on my boots, "we find out just how much you trust me.". Well, that sounds ominous.". Grabbing my keys I clarified, "We're foraging for dinner tonight.". Her smile was golden. "Oh, I am so in.". Of all my house guests, Sidney is by far the most adventurous. Lambsquarter (Wild Spinach), Purslane, and Mallow. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Dead Men Tell No Tales: Once in a Blue Moon
http://srchristoffersen.blogspot.com/2015/08/once-in-blue-moon.html
Dead Men Tell No Tales. Saturday, August 1, 2015. Once in a Blue Moon. I walked Bellatrix out to the back pasture. The lazy, summer sun was gently slipping behind the western range, allowing the soft pinks and purples of twilight to replace its rich golden light. I killed time loping that big black mare in slow, easy circles and trotting through the obstacle course. Always with one eye toward the jagged, purple cliffs to the east. It wouldn't be long now. Is worth it every time. The Oldies but Goodies.

Dead Men Tell No Tales: August 2015
http://srchristoffersen.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Dead Men Tell No Tales. Monday, August 31, 2015. Want Some Kale With That? Note to self: We do not need to plant quite so much kale next year. I love kale. I put it in just about everything. No, seriously. I do. What's in this soup? What's in that smoothie? What's in this pasta? What's on these potatoes? What's in that spaghetti sauce? What's in this salsa? What is this green stuff? Grinning like a demon, I shrug. "You know, the usual.". Forget zucchini. People are going to start finding bags of. Friday,...

Dead Men Tell No Tales: Early?
http://srchristoffersen.blogspot.com/2015/07/early.html
Dead Men Tell No Tales. Friday, July 31, 2015. The Canada Geese seem to be early this year. That, or they are extremely late. I wonder if they know something we do not. Dead Men Tell No Tales. Friday, July 3, 2015. The chicks (I'm not sure I can call them chicks anymore) have made the move into the Hen House. They were equal parts nervous and excited to go outside, but they are acclimating quickly. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The Oldies but Goodies. Dead Men Tell No Tales. To Sum Things Up. Dead Men Tell No Tales: Thinning
http://srchristoffersen.blogspot.com/2015/07/thinning.html
Dead Men Tell No Tales. Thursday, July 2, 2015. I worked my way through the garden this morning (before it got too hot) and thinned the beds. Thinning always feels like a mini harvest. The slender carrots and tiny beets are so tender and sweet at this stage. Also, the tail end of the first crop of spinach bolted (apparently I'm not the only one that dislikes this heat). So I pulled them up to make room for a small bed of collards (and to make a salad). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). To Sum Things Up.

Dead Men Tell No Tales: Is That All There Is?
http://srchristoffersen.blogspot.com/2015/07/is-that-all-there-is.html
Dead Men Tell No Tales. Thursday, July 2, 2015. Is That All There Is? I am fiercely proud, and intensely embarrassed to admit that this. Is all I have to show for the afternoon. I saw a picture of a lovely, hand embroidered flour sack towel, and I remembered the beautiful towels passed down from Grandma First. For some reason or another I thought, “I could embroider a towel, I should think.”. And so I did. Most ineptly I must say. There, Towel, consider yourself embroidered. The muffins were good though.
