Susan Bates: June 2013
http://susanbates.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 25 June 2013. I found this pattern on the internet a while ago for some cross stitch badges/ buttons - I can't remember where I found it, so I'm sorry that I can't credit you if they're your designs ;-(. They look like those Love Hearts sweets and are cute, in a kitschy kind of way! Chart and threads etc. I chose the 'Text Me' design but I changed the colours to my own colour sheme. I used DMC Stranded Cotton and stitched it onto 14 count white aida. Ta da finished button below! Then I noticed t...

There are lots of different themes in the book. Below is the sketch for my seaside sampler:. Spring Flower Cards - Irises. On the back is ...

Susan Bates: London Snaps
http://susanbates.blogspot.com/2013/07/london-snaps.html
Monday, 22 July 2013. On a trip to London to see the Kaffe Fassett textiles exhibition I walked along the Thames by the south bank. I walked from London Bridge down past The Globe Theatre and on to the Tate Modern - so I decided to post a few of the photos that I took along the way. I didn't realise that the Shard building is pretty much right on top of London Bridge station! The Gherkin' and London skyline. London does look great on camera - you can't really go wrong, can you? I had a vegan burger and a...

Susan Bates: Pacman cuteness!
http://susanbates.blogspot.com/2012/07/pacman-cuteness.html
Thursday, 5 July 2012. I found this chart on the internet for a Pacman design, helpfully already charted up! So I decided to stitch it up as a cross stitch design and make it into a little purse or maybe a make-up bag. It's stitched using 2 strands of stranded cotton on 14 count aida fabric. This is how it looked stitched up and made into a little purse, cute! I might get around to making a cushion design too eventually.something like this! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Sewing, knitting and other crafty endeavours. Vintage baby knits: Audrey Hoodie. Over the summer i’ve been dabbling in quite a bit of knitting for small people, with several friends expecting this autumn. The first of these is the Audrey Cardigan, taken from a book called Vintage Baby Knits by Kristen Rengren. I chose the Audrey Cardigan as it was touted as “an example of the quick-to-knit patterns so popular in the late 1950s”. The yarn I used was Sidar Snuggly Baby Speckle, a 60% cotton and 40% acrylic...

Monday, 31 August 2015. Circular Needle Know How: What length circular needle should you use? Often patterns will indicate the size and length of circular needle to use, but where this isn't the case or you are planning your own design, it can be a bit of a guessing game - and who wants to waste time working this out by trial and error? The following post will hopefully demystify circular needles, how these are measured and what is the best length to use for your project. How is the length measured?
