Sarah's Books - Used & Rare

Sarahs Books - Used and Rare. Painter - reader - writer - bookseller. Monday, July 20, 2015. A tale of two titles. I was recently at my book booth, in the antiques mall where I sell my books, and I came across this little gem. I said to myself, Self, why did you ever put this book out for sale? Why isn't this book still at home? I mean, honestly! So I brought it back home. And promptly found the book just to the right in the photograph below, already here on a shelf:. Sarah's Books - Used & Rare: June 2006

http://sarahsbooksusedrare.blogspot.com/2006_06_01_archive.html

Sarahs Books - Used and Rare. Painter - reader - writer - bookseller. Friday, June 30, 2006. Books are moving, in more ways than one. I've been following the recent news stories about The Tattered Cover. In Denver and its huge move. I particularly like this short piece. From Harry Smith at CBS News (minus the typo - not to be a snoot, but let's play. Find the Errant Apostrophe. For a moment) - it really says it all. Tattered Cover customers: get right over there and buy some books, as soon as you can!

Sarah's Books - Used & Rare: hiding in plain sight

http://sarahsbooksusedrare.blogspot.com/2015/05/hiding-in-plain-sight.html

Sarahs Books - Used and Rare. Painter - reader - writer - bookseller. Saturday, May 16, 2015. Hiding in plain sight. What led me into this Horace Walpole madness, anyway. I found myself wondering this afternoon (nearly finished with Volume II of his Letters. Oh yeah, it was that charming David Cecil book I read many weeks ago, Two Quiet Lives. Famous poem, the oft-quoted and -misquoted Elegy Written in a Country Church-Yard. Isn't that a nice paper cover? The black cloth spine has the gently faded title ...

Sarah's Books - Used & Rare: song of myself?

http://sarahsbooksusedrare.blogspot.com/2015/05/song-of-myself.html

Sarahs Books - Used and Rare. Painter - reader - writer - bookseller. Friday, May 29, 2015. After some silence, one might take the opportunity. to revive a little correspondence with popular topics; but I think you are no violent politician, and I am full as little so; I will therefore tell you of what I of course care more, and I am willing to presume you do too; that is, myself." (Volume III, pp.161-162). What more could I want in my leisure reading? Not that everything I do isn't leisure reading, but ...

Sarah's Books - Used & Rare: May 2006

http://sarahsbooksusedrare.blogspot.com/2006_05_01_archive.html

Sarahs Books - Used and Rare. Painter - reader - writer - bookseller. Wednesday, May 31, 2006. I'm back, and my trip was almost,. I had plans to visit a few bookshops in the Burlington area, but never made it, between marathon busyness and visiting with my aunt and uncle, both of whom I adore. My aunt's favorite bookshop in town is The Crow Bookshop. It sure looks good, and she says the prices are reasonable. Next time, perhaps. Shelf after gleaming shelf of them, it was intoxicating. I spotted a few...

Sarah's Books - Used & Rare: town and country

http://sarahsbooksusedrare.blogspot.com/2015/05/town-and-country.html

Sarahs Books - Used and Rare. Painter - reader - writer - bookseller. Tuesday, May 19, 2015. As I transition slowly from Volume II into Volume III, I can't help but think that reading Horace Walpole's Letters. Of my paintings. Reading is, after all, my anti-anxiety medicine of choice! Keeps me busy (as does writing) so I don't worry as much! Do you get my letters? Or do I write only for the entertainment of the clerks of the post office? His friends must have shouted with laughter as they read. I smi...

Laird's Books: Missed tracking test, will try again

http://kimlaird.blogspot.com/2010/02/missed-tracking-test-will-try-again.html

Books, reading, writers and other life events. Sunday, February 14, 2010. Missed tracking test, will try again. I have another list of tracking tests to enter. Missed the one in Oak Ridge, due to hurting my back by falling in a hole. No, Rosy wasn't involved. :). Rosy is just glad to have me home and all toherself. She had a great time yesterday, playing with two standard poodle puppies and is pretty tired today, still. Good girl, Rosy. Posted by Kim Laird. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Laird's Books: Surveys

http://kimlaird.blogspot.com/2010/10/surveys.html

Books, reading, writers and other life events. Wednesday, October 13, 2010. I've been taking a lengthy survey online, and finally finished. Way too long, and they tended to ask the same question multiple times. One set of questions was about whether our household members went grocery shopping too and what they did when they went grocery shopping. Just momentarily interesting to think about what they would do if they went grocery shopping. Buy new kitty litter? Probably. I'm sure they would have fun.

Laird's Books: October 2009

http://kimlaird.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html

Books, reading, writers and other life events. Saturday, October 10, 2009. With me (and Rosy). Great class on Friday. I asked for a private training session, so that I could work with some issues with Rosy. The main things were grooming (tolerating it), heeling and casual heeling, and ability to tolerate being handled. Also working on attention, which just means the dog looks at you and pays attention to what you're saying. Sound easy? Posted by Kim Laird. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Laird's Books: June 2009

http://kimlaird.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html

Books, reading, writers and other life events. Tuesday, June 23, 2009. Finished Pandora's Locks by Jeff Alexander. If you're at all interested in the environment and in protecting it, this is a book well worth reading. He lays out the problems of biological pollution (introducing creatures, plants, etc. from other places into new places), some solutions, and writes with passion about the issues. Very good book. Have more to read, of course. Posted by Kim Laird. Links to this post. Saturday, June 20, 2009.

Sarah's Bookshelf | What I'm reading and what I recommend.

What I'm reading and what I recommend. As I have mentioned in previous posts, my family is moving toward a more plant-based diet, so we are testing out all sorts of cookbooks and other resources catering to vegans. In my searches for things like realistic chocolate chip cookies and other cravings, I have come across Angela Liddon’s Oh She Glows website. Over and over again. Since some of the recipes sounded pretty good, I thought I’d check out her cookbook. Vegan With A Vengeance. Marlowe and Co. 2005.
