Feisty Fibers: April 2009
http://sarahsfeistyfibers.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
The fibers that make up my life, spinning yarns in wool and experience. Monday, April 20, 2009. I had an awakening a few weeks ago when I was at the gym and stepped on the scale. I’m not as bothered about the weight I’ve gained as I am about my health dwindling. It also hit me that I was letting my hair grow out – that means a change is a’commin’! I realized today that about this time every year at Uni I did an inventory – a spring cleaning of sorts. 1 Spring has (started to) sprung! I know, I wasn’...

The fibers that make up my life, spinning yarns in wool and experience. Saturday, June 13, 2009. In Which I Go to the Maine Fiber Frolic. I went to the Maine Fiber Frolic. Held in Windsor, Maine. About two and a half house away (well, a bit more than three if you get lost). I got up early so was there just after 9 AM and got to check everything out without a huge crowd and then enjoy the mass of people that are fiber-lovers. First, let me introduce to the stars of the show - the livestock! A few were ver...

Feisty Fibers: Aunt Ruth
http://sarahsfeistyfibers.blogspot.com/2010/05/aunt-ruth.html
The fibers that make up my life, spinning yarns in wool and experience. Monday, May 24, 2010. My mum called with sad news yesterday - my great-aunt Ruth (my mum's mother's sister) died. She had been failing for some time, and I am glad that she is out of pain now. All the same, a death is always sad. As you might imagine, I wasn't very close with my Aunt Ruth - she is of my grandmother's generation and lived in California (with the rest of my mum's family), but I have a few lovely memories of her.
Feisty Fibers: Rite of Passage
http://sarahsfeistyfibers.blogspot.com/2010/05/rite-of-passage.html
The fibers that make up my life, spinning yarns in wool and experience. Friday, May 28, 2010. I have a wise friend, mentor, and role model, KL. She's a graduate student at Yale and is fantastic - she's a fiber lover, was one of my first friends at college, and is my go-to person when my life (seems like it) is going to pieces. Most recently, of course, this was about my prelim. And she was right. But only after it was completely done. People trickled in, I sat and studied. The test was handed out at ...

With a Last Name Like Lamb, I was Born to Knit. Newer posts →. July 14, 2010. The past two months have been nothing short of amazing for me, in everywhere *but* the “actually doing the fiber arts” kind of way. It was much fun. I have a very big soft spot for pomp and circumstance. Speaking of coming full circle to the qualifying exam, my beloved friend Sarah. For a while, and the great thing about that type of friend is that they continue to be. But will save describing that adventure for the moment our ...

Posted by sarahsfate in My Own Personal Trials. 8220;When everything in your life is right on track, it’s easy to believe that things happen for a reason. It’s easy to have faith. But when things start to go wrong, then it’s very hard to hold on to that faith. It’s hard not to wonder who’s reasons these things are happening for.”-Allie Keys, Taken. I need to take all the qualities that make me good at my job, and I need to apply them to being a mother. I see So you think that's what every child needs, - a mother who's at home? Well, I had a mother at home all day, every day. You too, yes? Did that make you feel happy? Or oppressed by the attention? I am awa...
