The Sarahthon: 26.2 in 365

Wednesday, September 10, 2008. As I read back through the posts I've made here, I realize that I've come a long way in the past nine months or so. For one, I've run distances. Being able to do, starting with that first two-miles. My frame of mind. I've worked hard to overcome several mental barriers. Namely extreme perfectionism. In all my life, it wasn't until only a few months ago that I began to realize that running a long distance - like a marathon - was actually. And just like that, goodbye. Worry i...

The Sarahthon: 26.2 in 365: Uphill battle

http://www.sarahthon.blogspot.com/2008/04/uphill-battle.html

Sunday, April 20, 2008. I'll say this much: the hills are bitches. That statement alone really could sum up my reflections on Saturday's 10K, but a person doesn't start a blog to be so succinct. The event was a run/walk for St. Mary's Hospice; my parents participated in the 5K fun walk, which is why you see them in the photos below (left to right: Kelly, Mom, me, Dad). Hills, even slight inclines, is far different than driving. CAN'T YOU SEE I'M IN A RACE! The Run for Hospice? After running up the hill o...

The Sarahthon: 26.2 in 365: January 2008

http://www.sarahthon.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html

Wednesday, January 30, 2008. Walkification, part deux. Jen and I went out for the second installation of our Monday-Wednesday Lunchtime Walkification, and this time Curtis came along too. Here's Curtis trying to banish a rock from his shoe, and Jen- who/whom. You may not have recognized without her clever headwear. (It's. By the way.). Monday, January 28, 2008. Good Ness, it's nippy outside today! Anyway, here is Jen trying to keep her ears warm against the wind:. Tuesday, January 22, 2008. Some days I a...

The Sarahthon: 26.2 in 365: Worry is an unusual, but very effective, motivator

http://www.sarahthon.blogspot.com/2008/08/worry-is-unusual-but-very-good.html

Monday, August 4, 2008. Worry is an unusual, but very effective, motivator. But I went four more. Because I'm a wuss. I just ran eight miles without water. So after four more miles of mostly walking with intermittent running and some careful stretching, everyone had left, and my car was alone again as if nothing had happened while I was gone. And so I drank two bottles of water, changed into flip-flops and drove home, stopping only for ice cream. Glorious ice cream. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

The Sarahthon: 26.2 in 365: November 2007

http://www.sarahthon.blogspot.com/2007_11_01_archive.html

Thursday, November 29, 2007. Off to a lousy start. I did walk on Tuesday, as you can see from the gold star I earned on the schedule above, and the photo posted below. Anyway, I'm posting the one photo I managed to get from Tuesday. And my new rule: as much as I'd rather work out with a partner, it is always better to work out alone than with a grumpy pants who does not share even a smidgen of your enthusiasm. Monday, November 26, 2007. Saturday, November 24, 2007. Wednesday, November 21, 2007. You'll se...

The Sarahthon: 26.2 in 365: Two miles of surprise

http://www.sarahthon.blogspot.com/2008/02/two-miles-of-surprise.html

Sunday, February 17, 2008. Two miles of surprise. I ran two miles today. It hurt. A LOT. I've also confirmed what I knew to be true in the first place, but chose to carefully ignore because it's cold outside: I'm going to have to start spending more time running on the road, because it took me by surprise. The asphalt doesn't move. Ing at me on the other side of the road. I was very glad to reach the final half-mile, which spanned the length of a very straight bridge. Have you seen. If God invented marat...

By day, I am a graphic designer of business communications materials (yawn). I also go to school. Graduate school. I've been busting my bottom trying to finish my master's degree without losing my head. When I graduate, I think I deserve (for at least a week) to be called Master Sarah. And even if I'm not really a master of the art of communicating in contemporary culture, I will at least be a master of keeping cool. Okay, okay: master of hanging in there. You can also find Sarah in these - count 'em!

It's been great here, but now you can find me at. Thursday, January 31, 2008. Monday, January 28, 2008. When you start your weekend by finding on your doorstep a J.Crew box that contains a dress in the most adorable pattern, made from the most delectable silk-wool blend, which you have eyed longingly since last summer and have recently purchased because it was on clearance *AND* THEY HAD YOUR SIZE, you know it's destined to be fairly good. Oh, what WILL they think of next? And I wrapped it all up by maki...

I am traveling to London, England on business for four days. Of course I am not Sarah! What are you talking about? I do not know any such person. I certainly was not at the International Spy Museum. It's been great here, but now you can find me at. Tuesday, July 29, 2008. Did you ever wish you had a Shut the Eff Up gun? Keith asked me this question today, today of all days, today when my stress level can be measured using the Richter Scale, when my inevitable climactic reaction to it is likely to rival Vesuvius. I replied without a thought. At times, I've also wished I had a Common Sense ray, or a You Are the Last Person I Want to Deal With Right Now zapper. What would you keep in.

It's been great here, but now you can find me at. Monday, July 21, 2008. Six Random Things About Myself: Part Three. This one sort of speaks for itself, so I'll get straight to it. Random thing number three: I have a healthy obsession with pineapples. It all started with this:. And it grew from there, subtly infiltrating my house. Let's take a walking tour, shall we? Well here we are just outside my house- Regardez! You will say something like, "how many pineapples do you HAVE? But chances are good you w...

It's been great here, but now you can find me at. Monday, April 28, 2008. I got tagged a few weeks ago by Jen A. To do a meme. The rules, which I may or may not follow one hundred percent, are as follows:. Write your own six-word memoir. Post it on your blog. Include a visual illustration if you’re so inclined. Link to the person that tagged you, and to the original post if possible so the meme-gods can track it. Tag at least five more blogs with links. As it turns out (thanks to Merriam-Webster) the word.

http://imageration.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html

It's been great here, but now you can find me at. Saturday, March 29, 2008. Is it just me . or is there something funny - and by funny I don't mean funny ha-ha so much as funny odd - about selling organic produce wrapped up in plastic and styrofoam? Doesn't that kind of defeat at least part of the purpose of *organic*? I find this ironic in the same sort of way as driving an SUV to the recycling center. And building a luxury townhome community called Beverly Hills behind K-Mart. Wednesday, March 26, 2008.

It's been great here, but now you can find me at. Wednesday, August 22, 2007. August is the worst month of the year. It doesn’t even have any holidays. However, March produces daffodils, crocus and tulips. August, on the other hand, produces mosquitoes. August is undoubtedly the worst month of the year. Even the name is unpleasant. Monday, August 20, 2007. Saturday Night Roasted Chicken and Vegetables. 3-5 carrots, peeled, quartered. 1 large sweet onion, quartered. 6 cloves garlic, peeled and smashed.

After much reflection, I think it makes the most sense to stick with my current teaching methods, but make sure that I keep in mind these gender differences as I'm teaching.
