9 Countries in 7 Months. Wednesday, February 23, 2011. Luang Prabang, an enchanting song. We arrived via the slow-boat down the mighty Mekong River, the lifeforce of Lao, with maybe 40 other intrepid adventurers; for a slow-boat it sure went by fast. We spent the two day trip mingling with fellow tourists ("farang") from the world over and having a jolly good time jamming and singing with a Frenchman named Rich, who brought a ukulele in tow. Slowly rising up the cracked brick stairs, still solid after a thousands years, in the darkened temple; stooping under the low brick archways; stepping out into the beaming Burmese sunlight, we exalted at the unimaginable bounty of beauty springing forth before us. Oh glorious majesty, thy name is Bagan! Mount Popa was a strange sight to see: a huge temple perched high atop a really steep flat-topped hill- -very bizarre!

A set of cookie/canape cutters in various sizes were pressed into the clay to make the design.
