The Barra Whisperer | Darwin Correspondent
https://katherinekeller.wordpress.com/2011/05/14/the-barra-whisperer
Yes we do have tall buildings and sealed roads, shoes optional. Darwin is full of eccentric characters, from the phantom rubbish collecting gentleman who works his way all over Darwin and surrounding suburbs organising rubbish into neat little piles by the road, ready for collection, presumably by the council. To the local real estate agent who wears a red pith helmet everywhere he goes and drives a bright red Lexus convertible. Lets decipher his note. Went Home Eary –. No idea, like the expressive yeeha...

Darwin + Dry, on the rocks | Darwin Correspondent
https://katherinekeller.wordpress.com/2011/04/20/darwin-dry-on-the-rocks
Yes we do have tall buildings and sealed roads, shoes optional. Darwin Dry, on the rocks. Sunset at Ubir Rock. I, like a lot of Darwin residents, am probably a little cautious of declaring dry season ‘here’. The wet season has seemingly gone on forever, and at the first magical glimmer of The Dry. In the last two days. 3,1600 mm – the Leanyer 2010/11 rainfall – highest wet season rainfall in NT since 1999/2000. I’m heading out camping tomorrow afternoon for a trip to Kakadu that may be the last one...

Goodbye Beer, it’s not me, it’s you | Darwin Correspondent
https://katherinekeller.wordpress.com/2010/10/18/goodbye-beer-its-not-me-its-you
Yes we do have tall buildings and sealed roads, shoes optional. Goodbye Beer, it’s not me, it’s you. Beer increases the waistline gradually, and at first I blamed my clothes not fitting on ‘fluid retention’ attributed to the humid climate (caused only by copious beer drinking of course), and getting older. It was mostly down to the beer I’m afraid. Extreme measures needed – I very foolishly started the. Abandoned, I happened upon a book by Elle Macpherson’s trainer, James Duigan, the. Clean and Lean Diet.

Home is where exactly? | Darwin Correspondent
https://katherinekeller.wordpress.com/2010/04/15/home-is-where-exactly
Yes we do have tall buildings and sealed roads, shoes optional. Home is where exactly? Last week I had a whirlwind trip to Sydney for a good friend’s wedding, and also to see my family. It went so quickly, and left me wondering as always why work weeks never seem to disappear so quickly? And also why I never have enough holidays accrued? Surely not. It does seem kind of unfair, but there have to be pay-offs for running into burning buildings and cutting badly mangled people out of cars…. You are commenti...

Gardening vs Children | Darwin Correspondent
https://katherinekeller.wordpress.com/2010/04/17/gardening-vs-children
Yes we do have tall buildings and sealed roads, shoes optional. The only people I know who like gardening are either much older than me, are actual gardeners or landscapers, or have had forays into growing. After many months - our babies have got their own babies! Don’t get me wrong, I would be very upset if anything bad happened to the plants. They’ve been grown from seeds, have withstood monsoonal rains, mysterious illnesses and come through a little weather beaten, but still alive! Next post →.

Sunday afternoon by the lake | Darwin Correspondent
https://katherinekeller.wordpress.com/2010/08/11/sunday-afternoon-by-the-lake
Yes we do have tall buildings and sealed roads, shoes optional. Sunday afternoon by the lake. It’s been a busy few months here in Darwin, in a manner of speaking! My parents visited, and it was lovely to see Ma and Pa, a little fraught initially, me apologising for the lack of furniture; bean bags are ok for us you see, but not so comfy for pensioners. And once again me adjusting to being ‘someones child’ and at times spoken to like one. It took several goes to get this right, being a tiger is hard ok?
