I have worked as a writer, a journalist, in Public Relations and Strategic Communications for Hollywood Studios such as Hanna-Barbera, as an Editor (of Animation Magazine and Animation World Network), and as a buyer and seller of wine and spirits. My personal favorites are big, buttery, oaky Chards. They are getting harder to find (French oak can run $1,300/barrel). Gainey, Evan's Ranch, Rodney Strong, Kendall Jackson Grand Reserve, Gundlach-Bundschu, Chateau Ste. Michelle and Hess Select are great choices. Somewhat pricier: Rombauer and Cakebread Cellars. Great for Summer, with good deals from Gainey, Kim Crawford (New Zealand), Flora Springs and Margerum. More expensive, but great: Duckhorn and Joseph Phelps. Wine of the Month. Petit Verdot is a...
