Wednesday, August 31, 2005. One of my most prized possessions came from Wal-Mart. I had that realization watching the evacuations ahead of Katrina. At the time I thought, they're so lucky. They had days' warnings. They had time to consider their options, pack the photos and call relatives to say, "we're coming" or priceline themselves cheap hotel rooms out of the path of the storm. And then I thought about Boo-Boo. But again, that threat was real, and from that, we had contengency plans. My parents ke...

Wednesday, July 27, 2005. Adam's spending an extra day in San Diego for what he describes as "festivities." I am so green with jealousy, I can barely see straight. He's basking in the warm California sun, Pacific air in his face in the land of friggin' PANDAS. And I'm in Albu-friggin'-qurque, still bogged down in revisions. I want to know how he scammed the whole karma thing for this, because it's killing me. Snapped by Sarah at 3:35 PM. Links to this post. Tuesday, July 26, 2005. Like any rational adult...

Monday, May 30, 2005. More like a ton and a half. It's always a mixed bag coming back into work after a long vay-cay. There are the mundane tasks of catching up on mail (interoffice, snail and e-), clearing off the desk, forgetting the new intern's name and catching up on the gossip. The company's decision to move all employees to my old insurance carrier. Yay! I get to have my primary care gal again! TPTB installed new, retina-scarring red LED clocks in the middle of the newsroom. With "Too long.".

Thursday, April 28, 2005. I've decided I just can't do the sequin-covered shoes this season. Okay, I realize Marc Jacobs is a genius. For the spangled ballet flats and blessed be for Old Navy knockoffs and yadda, yadda, yadda it's the the the shoe for spring. Whatever. I just can't do it. And I've got the constitution of a crow. Seriously, on my good days, I'm distracted by my wedding rings. Ooh, shiny! Screw it, I have shiny shoes. Working on the new book? Shiny, shiny, shiny! Snapped by Sarah at 5:40 PM.

Saturday, April 26, 2008. Not much of a change from twenty-nine. That's the blessing of being born middle aged, I suppose, though I did bounce around on Wednesday, threatening to live up the final hours of my impetuous youth by getting a tattoo, quitting my job and chunking the mortgage to live as an olive farmer on some Greek island. And then I ran out of time and entered the fourth decade tattoo free and still gainfully employed in Albuquerque. Snapped by Sarah at 9:39 PM. Links to this post:.

Sunday, June 22, 2008. Scenes from an election. Hi, I'm calling with the [name redacted] campaign and I was hoping to urge you and your husband to come out and volunteer.". Dude, we live in the third congressional district.". But that's on the West Side.". Wow Are you sure you live in district three? Was the primary three weeks ago? Oh Dude. You should move.". Tell me about it.". Snapped by Sarah at 8:05 PM. Links to this post:. I gave my notice at the last gig a year ago toda.

Wednesday, June 29, 2005. After two years of looking at splotchy blue walls and finding freaky faces that weren't really supposed to be there (because that room was nothing if not a psych experiment gone very, very wrong), I got up the gumption to paint our bedroom last weekend. Tell me what you see. Yeah, that's so not condusive to a good night's sleep. Yeah, IKEA. I found the perfect dresser there: pine, eight drawers and cheap. If I'd had $300 and had we not been en route to the airport, I don...Howev...

Saturday, September 06, 2008. And now, it's the beginning of September. The State Fair is underway and I'm dying to have Food on a Stick, and suddenly we have three dozen baby tomatoes, with more buds threatening to sprout. Just like everything else in this life, the timing is completely off, and I'm wondering if we'll be able to harvest any of the newest fruit before it cools down. Snapped by Sarah at 9:31 PM. Friday, May 02, 2008. I gave my notice at the last gig a year ago today. A year ago today, I was about 95% certain I had made a huge, GOB-like mistake. I even came up with a contingency plan that involved welding and/or cupcakes. I'm so glad it didn't come to that. I mean, so, so glad. Snapped by Sarah at 11:18 PM. Links to this post:. So Im thirty. Not much of a change from twenty-. Lot of talk about traction control this weekend. . One that I wish came from the Wayback Machine, 200.
