Thursday, December 4, 2008. As I walk into a typical day at Select Physical Therapy. I am filled with adrenaline. And anxiety after rushing from high school to my service site. My mind races through all the tasks I need to accomplish, but I know I must try to leave those distractions at the door and walk in to learn and help to the best of my ability. I am excited. For another day, and greatly enjoy all the new experiences and people I encounter daily. As I slowly walk into the clinic, I feel uneasy.

Each time I volunteer I learn new things and confirm the fact that I will major in physical therapy. And specialize in sports medicine. Consistent volunteer hours versus patient's regular appointment times. Small Talk" helps to get to know patients, and patients to understand more about me. Listening to patients as they talk about family, work, etc allows me to better understand their lifestyles.

Monday, December 1, 2008. The flow of patients. In and out of Select Phyiscal Therapy closely resembles the traffic flow of city streets. Before and after work, a flood of traffic comes streaming in the doors of Select Physical Therapy. For rehabilitation. During these hours of controlled chaos, many patients manuever in the tight quarters to complete their programs, much like street cars. Weave in and out of traffic during rush hour. The two therapists act as traffic control. And school hours, the office.
