Bloggin’s the WORD-perseverance of love. Bloggin’s the WORD-sister. Monthly Archives: May 2014. A month to go! May 21, 2014. Today, it is only a month to go before my Peace Corps service! Looking back at almost 2 years ago, when I first started my application, it is hard to believe that I am where I am now and that I am leaving in 30 days! In 30 days I will start my training in Porto Novo, Benin. After 3 months I will start my two years of service. And in Sept. 2016, I will return. Wow. May 1, 2014.

Bloggin’s the WORD-perseverance of love. Bloggin’s the WORD-sister. Monthly Archives: November 2014. November 29, 2014. In honor of this past American holiday, I would like to say 13 things I am thankful for because Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday and well, 13 is my favorite number. 1] FAMILY. The love and pure joy that they bring. The laughter, the ridiculous, non-nonsensical jokes. The support, the strength, the warmth in your heart. 5] PERSEVERANCE. The ability to keep going when you think wit...

I will be boarding a plane soon for Philadelphia where I will be all day today for orientation. Then, it’s off to NYC and then Brussels, Belgium and then, by Tuesday night (local time) I will be in Cotonou, Benin. See you later for now. It is...

Bloggin’s the WORD-perseverance of love. Bloggin’s the WORD-sister. Author Archives: sarah zalewski. First week in Toura….and now the Strike. November 23, 2015. After almost 2 months of not being here, the view of the rusted yellow sign on the left side of the dusty orange road that says, CEG TOURA, was such a welcoming sight. I dragged all of my bags in my house while bribing all of the kids with toys and candy tomorrow if only I could get myself together and somewhat settled tonight. Thankfully the...

Thursday, February 26, 2015. End of the Premiere Semestre. I will keep this shorter because, trop parler, c'est maladie. Listen to this while reading:. TP Poly-Rythmo De Cotonou (Benin) - Trop Parler, C'est Maladie. It has been a little longer since my last update. I have spent most of my writing energy on letters and journaling, making true my pledge to reply to all written mail (the pledge still holds, I love letters). It is easy to see the plate piles up. Allez avec dieu,. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
In Benin: Simple Past Tense
http://chazaqinbenin.blogspot.com/2014/11/simple-past-tense.html
Friday, November 7, 2014. Class, is this English? The children looked frustrated and repeated pastèque. "C'est un fruit." Were they talking about the watermelon I ate earlier today? Another question." A boy who sits on the left, with a low brow, thick hair, and wide spread eyes asked, "Did you eat tchouk today? First, the correction at hand—"Class, do we eat water? Do we eat café? No, I did not eat tchouk today. Did I drink tchouk today? So and So Buys Cup of Coffee". They are just like us! No Sugar/Peac...

27 Months as an Education Volunteer with the Peace Corps. I’m sorry it has been so long, but we haven’t had much internet connection. Now that I know my training schedule and that the central training location has wifi, I’m going to bring my computer about once a week. At least that is the plan. The internet in Benin isn’t fast and sometimes I’m only able to check my email and can’t respond. There’s no real talent to it other than dumping bowlfuls of water over your head until the shampoo is gone. Ba...

27 Months as an Education Volunteer with the Peace Corps. Benin 2014, Stage 27. Also, there was a volunteer in Africa who developed an app that she used for one of her service project and she asked Google to donate 3 tablets so that she could teach some other people in her village to use it. Instead, Google donated 1,000 tablets and our stage was lucky enough to get our own free tablet to use for our service! My group is a great group of people! My mailing address is:. 8211; Meghan Eicher, Virginia/ Wash...

Sunday, June 22, 2014. Wednesday, June 18, 2014. A Look at "Divine Carcasse". This film was shared with Future PCVs in Benin. It is called Divine Carcasse. Click here to view the film on Youtube. The film, as a whole, is framed by two scenes of vessels. These scenes are not simply motion of ships, but a bearing of a sacred cargo. With the knowledge of the objects upon these ships, these ships are transformed into arks. Though, the divinities that these arks carry are of a different kind. The film allows ...

Friday, January 2, 2015. La Congé or Taking Leave. Joyeux Noel et Bonne Ann é. First, take a listen to this great sengalese mixtape:. Number One de Dakar '83. Ok, now the mood is set. How are you? Moi-meme, I am doing alright. I write to you from another dusty harmattan evening in Natitingou. The winter break is coming to a close, too short as always, but I am prepared to get back to work. But let me tell you a little about my break. Typical Beninese Highway Travel. One of a old mother who passed peacefu...

Bloggin’s the WORD-perseverance of love. Bloggin’s the WORD-sister. Feet in the sand, sun on my back, eyes on the ocean. June 19, 2015. There is something about spending some true quality time near the Atlantic Ocean that changes you. Especially coming from the perspective of a ‘lake girl’ or Michigander. Don’t get me wrong, I’m proud of my state and my great bodies of water but compared to ‘la mer,’ the great lakes look like puddles. I think the reason why Grand Popo was such an amazing trip for me was ...

Give in to the Feeling. There’s more than gangsters and jazz hidden in the dusk of Susie’s speakeasy. When she arrived to America, Susie thought she found everything she never dared to dream of in China. But only when she meets Blood, she realises the freedom to dress as she wants, make up her face, drink and smoke and dance is just a little, unimportant part of the true freedom she yearns for. Free – Download Chapter 1. But Susie’s still Simon’s woman, and he won’t allow her to forget it. When Susie cam...
