More Backpacks than Blue Jeans - Thailand. Monday, June 29, 2009. Let's Try This Again. So there has been an almost 2 year hiatus from the last time I posted pictures on a blog, but that is because China had issues with giving access to the blog, which made posting awfully diffucult. Now Facebook has decided that they do not want to let me post photos anymore (not sure why, just can't seem to upload) so here we go again. Blog it is! By the time I had walked up to the top of the hill in the crazy humidity...

More Backpacks than Blue Jeans - Recipes. Sunday, November 21, 2010. Scotch Cakes (a.k.a. Shortbread). Another of my grandmother's recipes. These are prefect melt in your mouth shortbreads, but the recipe is a bit finickety like pastry, be warned. 1 cup brown sugar, lightly packed. 2 cups butter (cool, but not too hard to cut with a knife). Combine flour and sugar in a large bowl. Cut in the butter and work with a pastry blender. When it the chunks are on average the size of peas combine with your hands.

The Pajeon Princess: August 2008
http://pajeonprincess.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html
Friday, 1 August 2008. Bulgogi 불고기 (Sweet Beef). This is one of my favourite ways to eat beef. It is not complicated to make either, although you need a few hours for it to marinade. This is one of the best things to cook if you are introducing someone to Korean cookery because its not too unusual in flavour or appearence. This recipe is a combination of a few that I have found in various places, with my own changes too. Serves about 4 people as a side dish. Quantities are approximate! 1 pound of beef.

The Pajeon Princess: King of Crabs: Ilsan, Korea 2009
http://pajeonprincess.blogspot.com/2009/06/king-of-crabs-ilsan-korea-2009.html
Thursday, 25 June 2009. King of Crabs: Ilsan, Korea 2009. Two weeks in Korea = Food Heaven! So I will start with the seafood. I had never tried King Crab before so was pretty excited about this. We stopped off in Ilsan (a city just North of Seoul) on our way back from the Imjin river and found a place that only sells crab. Its a pretty usual thing in Korea for the resturant to specialise in a particular type of food - so the question asked is often "what do you want to eat? I will try anything once, so I...

These bamboo posts provided a tiny amount protection for the shoreline. Soon the sun started to set and it was beautiful. Jill playing in the water at sunset. When we wokeup the second tim...

More Backpacks than Blue Jeans -- Korea: Busy Weekend
http://saristravelingkorea.blogspot.com/2006/11/busy-weekend.html
More Backpacks than Blue Jeans - Korea. Monday, November 20, 2006. Although not a long weekend this weekend started on Friday for me. Before work I headed into the city with Becky and Sam (2 of my coworkers) and Jen and Joy (my director's daughters). We went to the 'Blue House' or president's house, in Korean called Cheong Wa Dae. The name 'Blue House' comes from the colour of the roof tiles. Lucky us, we got to do the tour with a big group of kids - fun fun! They were around 11 or 12 for the most part.
