Wine Reviews with Attitude. Fratelli Nero D’Avola. Tormaresca NePriCa ». February 16, 2012. Leave a Trackback URL. So this is the only chianti I picked from BevMo! Gina’s delicious example is easy on the acidity, so maybe it’s not. Currently available at BevMo! For $17; it was a lot cheaper before February 6, 2012 — and I wish I had stocked up. Wine Reviews with Attitude. February 16, 2012. The funny name for this wine comes from a blend of three grapes–Negroamaro (40%), Primitivo (30%), and Cabernet Sauvignon (30%). Negroamaro (“bitter black”) is a varietal unfamiliar to me until now–grown primarily in Puglia, Italy’s heel, and characterized by a particular bitterness. I definitely got that in the finish; not overpowering, but very distinctive. The Cab no doubt balances that out. On Panilonco Reserve Carmenere. On Cocobon Red Table Wine.

Spicy Bloody Mary in recognition of one more day of the weekend. Sutton Cellar’s Brown Label Vermouth. I was recommended this Vermouth on first visit to a Whole Foods. I was lost and asked if they had Vermouth and was blown away when the answer was, “Well, My favorite is over here.” I will always be sucker for high-quality, hand-crafted Vermouth and, sadly, am still surprised when I find people who feel the same. Liked it in a “wet” vodka martini. But can only drink so many Martinis. 1 ounce simple syrup.

Tag Archives: old school. Spicy Bloody Mary in recognition of one more day of the weekend. Pad: Guide to Ultra-Living. This recipe is from the South Seas restaurant in Honolulu, Hawaii circa 1970. Not your standard Zombie recipe but a very nice version. Plenty of rum and fruit in this one, no surprise there! Combine the following in a shaker full of ice. 1 ounce of orange juice. 1 ounce of unsweetened pineapple juice. Ounce of fresh lemon juice. Ounce of sweet Italian vermouth. Ounce of orange curaçao.

Spicy Bloody Mary in recognition of one more day of the weekend. Bloody Marys are a standard at weekend brunches and they’re hard to mess up but as far as I’m concerned this is the recipe to beat. Combine the following in a shaker full of ice…. 4 ounces tomato juice. 1 ounce fresh lime juice. Generous pinch of salt. 2 dashes of Worcestershire suce. 2 dashes of Tabasco sauce. Adapted from William-Sonoma: The Bar Guide. Grab a Hurricane Glass Set. Pad: Guide to Ultra-Living. Built on the Neutica Theme.

Tag Archives: Beachbum Berry. Pad: Guide to Ultra-Living. The Miehana is my go-to umbrella drink; it’s yummy, easy to make and is fruity without beating you over the head with the rum. It’s a modern invention, not an old-school Tiki-drink but I like it. Combine the following in a shaker full of ice. 1 ounce of fresh lime juice. 1 ounce of orange juice. 1 ounce of unsweetened pineapple juice. 1 ounce of Grand Marnier. 1 ounce of gold Virgin Islands rum. 1 ounce of coconut-flavored rum. 1 ounce of unsweete...

Wine Reviews with Attitude. Gina Nero D’Avola. February 18, 2012. The light cherry bouquet wafting up from my glass was an auspicious start to this Sicilian charmer, which didn’t let me down when it hit my tongue. Tart and sassy she is, making the most of a simple boysenberry and oak core with a gentle but lingering finish. Sometimes, all you want is a glass of decent wine after a long day–this one fits the bill nicely. 15 at BevMo…but just $10 for ClubBev members–a much better price match. I didn’...

Our server Alex was warm and attentive. The staff seemed to work as a well-oiled team - impressive for such a new restaurant. This is a nice restaurant with great service, high quality food, an interesting menu, and a lively atmosphere. I look...

Sassy Wine Girl » The Best Guide For Women, Wine, Fun and Events in the Pacific Northwest. Tuesday, April 20, 2010. My Favorite Roast Chicken. Posted in Wine Cooking. Roast chicken is so easy to make, yet so often ruined with overcooking. Through the years we’ve all seen oven bags, read about carefully choreographed basting regiments and more, but the best roast chicken is about as simple as it gets and comes via the legendary Thomas Keller and his Bouchon Bistro. My Favorite Simple Roast Chicken. As a W...
