Impression Sunrise: Wild Rabbits and Warm Hearts
http://satellitessurroundus.blogspot.com/2011/01/wild-rabbits-and-warm-hearts.html
Wednesday, January 26, 2011. Wild Rabbits and Warm Hearts. I’m reminded of the expression cold hands, warm heart. The idea of venturing out into the cold today is not purely derivative of cold hands, warm heart. It is actually the inspiration of my dream that I can’t shake. It was so powerful and so detailed—and most of all it dovetailed so perfectly with what I wrote about in my other blog. Last night, that I know it was from beyond me. Before bed, I posted Maybe I need a rabbit-fur coat….
Impression Sunrise: Spring is in the air
http://satellitessurroundus.blogspot.com/2011/04/spring-is-in-air.html
Saturday, April 2, 2011. Spring is in the air. As spring approaches, the bear who has been hibernating must slowly return to himself. His pulse quickens, his metabolism awakens in him a hunger for food he has not had in many months. The longer, brighter hours must necessarily signal to his closed lids that heat and warmth and light have returned to the bare landscape that had been vanquished by winter. 8221; because for him it is a revelation. Impression Sunrise: The Winter of My Discontent
http://satellitessurroundus.blogspot.com/2011/01/winter-of-my-discontent.html
Saturday, January 15, 2011. The Winter of My Discontent. I stand, forehead pressed to glass, so cold and hard on my skin. Looking out at this winter landscape. A white frieze of snow clings to the bend in the bare branch beyond the window. White against the dull dark gray of bark. White tipped branches stretching towards the gray colorless sky. A landscape in sepia. Gordon says we can see things more clearly in the winter. Brutal. Honest. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). A Catalogue of the Senses.
Impression Sunrise: Found Journal Entry--written 4/8/09
http://satellitessurroundus.blogspot.com/2011/01/found-journal-entry-written-4809.html
Saturday, January 15, 2011. Found Journal Entry- written 4/8/09. Leaving this city will be so incredibly hard. Here, in these lines, how can I sum up what it was to hear the tincan rustling of the eucalyptus leaves, and walk home with their scent clinging to my pants cuffs? How can I capture the way the yellow sun fell on the whites city made up of tiny squares, laid out on hills like a miniature train set? The rumble and clacking of the trains on the streets and the clanging of the trolly cars?

Thursday, April 21, 2011. A Catalogue of the Senses. A city where every single person knows they live in the most beautiful city in the world. Saturday, April 2, 2011. Spring is in the air. And now, what next I want to scream, jumping raising my inactive arms. Life begins again. Shoots break through frozen ground, push aside clods of dirt. The bunny makes almost daily appearances. Grey has seen his first blue sky in a long while and has pointed to it, announcing “Dis! Soon I will get an Illinois license ...

At the intersection of space and memory: July 2010
http://spaceandmemory.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
At the intersection of space and memory. Wednesday, July 21, 2010. Two months gone and so much learned. William James made famous the concept of “stream of consciousness” saying that thoughts are like a stream—you step into them once and draw your toe out and when it dips in again it’s somewhere entirely different—the waters themselves are different. And that’s where I find myself now. Two months gone and so many thoughts: so many ideas gone, so many ME. I am considering the past. Today Henry played dres...
At the intersection of space and memory: Ice Fishing
http://spaceandmemory.blogspot.com/2011/01/ice-fishing.html
At the intersection of space and memory. Saturday, January 15, 2011. Here, there is silence. A thick covering of silence as white and heavy as the snow that carpets everything. Snow absorbs and mutes noises so that the world comes at you through a veil of cotton. The colors are bleached out like faded calico. There is nothing besides the white of the snow and the dreary bricks. But it is the silence that is most disturbing. Unnatural. Empty. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Other Places I can Be Found.
At the intersection of space and memory: the key to my heart
http://spaceandmemory.blogspot.com/2011/03/key-to-my-heart.html
At the intersection of space and memory. Wednesday, March 23, 2011. The key to my heart. Here I am at the coffee shop again, trying to snag a few moments for myself. To remember what it means to be “just me.” I’m reminded of a game I used to play: what’s on your keychain? Where I was just promoted? Leave my huge, inexpensive flat? All of my stuff? The boy I didn’t really want to let go of? I had acted with courage ( what—now? And now I was relying on strength to see it through. But this keychain mean...

http://spaceandmemory.blogspot.com/2011/01/maybe-i-need-rabbit-fur-coat.html
At the intersection of space and memory. Tuesday, January 25, 2011. Maybe I need a rabbit-fur coat. I realize now what enormous confidence I have always drawn from how others view me. By my recognition as a thinker or student. By complements I’ve received about my style and my confidence. I never knew how reliant I was on these things—how they buoyed me up and held me strong. And now, as nothing other than a mother and a wife—how do you gauge successes? Picked up the house? And so, under this pink-tinged...
At the intersection of space and memory: a spoon full of sugar
http://spaceandmemory.blogspot.com/2010/10/spoon-full-of-sugar.html
At the intersection of space and memory. Friday, October 29, 2010. A spoon full of sugar. I’ve begun a regiment of Homeschool Preschool. I love the cadence of the description. But what is preschool, really? It is learning artfully disguised as play. And I’m finding ways to incorporate learning into everything—like slipping a dog’s medicine into a hotdog slice. At the intersection of space and memory: Air Currents
http://spaceandmemory.blogspot.com/2010/11/air-currents.html
At the intersection of space and memory. Wednesday, November 3, 2010. As I adjust to this move, I feel much the same. Trying so hard to pull myself to a stand. Cruising from thing to thing, always holding on, unable to support myself entirely. Losing my balance, learning to trust myself again. What would it look like if I could just be brave enough to exist in the turmoil of this moment in my life? I swept today. The corner is clean for now. But what dust must still swirl and agitate in the air! Identity...
At the intersection of space and memory: Faith Trust and Pixie Dust
http://spaceandmemory.blogspot.com/2010/10/faith-trust-and-pixie-dust.html
At the intersection of space and memory. Friday, October 29, 2010. Faith Trust and Pixie Dust. On days like today, as I finally face the white freedom of this page—wanting so badly to run away, avoid it the way I have been—I worry about what my life is. What it has become. Or perhaps I wonder at my inability to reach into my days and pluck out something small and sparkly: a daily wisdom; an inspired thought. Once upon a time…. It's Always Sunny in Portland. October 29, 2010 at 10:23 AM. Me too. yeah!
At the intersection of space and memory: March 2010
http://spaceandmemory.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
At the intersection of space and memory. Wednesday, March 31, 2010. 8230;the problem is specifically and essentially woman’s. Distraction is, always has been, and probably always will be, inherent in woman’s life. Last night Gordon tried to get me interested in some sort of new telescope NASA put up in space, or is about to, I wasn’t listening very well. Finally I said, truly curious, “do you find it unbelievable that I’m just not interested in something you find so fascinating? Thursday, March 25, 2010.
At the intersection of space and memory: September 2010
http://spaceandmemory.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
At the intersection of space and memory. Thursday, September 30, 2010. Update or What I Did Over Summer Vacation. Another year, another city. What did I do this summer? For now, I’m content. And whether that is me not having processed anything, or me just taking one little step at a time—waiting patiently for nap times and bed times and first glasses of wine (hooray for 5 o’clock! Monday, September 20, 2010. What makes me who I am? We are creatures of habit I suppose. Especially me. Give me a war...How a...
