Saves9: November 2014
http://saves9embroidery.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Friday, 21 November 2014. I worked the tail feathers for the peacock in pulled thread stitches as one of the first things I did. Now it is time to define them with padded satin stitch and trailing. And to work a centre feature with eyelets. Ready to work the eyelets. Continuous eyelets and working larger eyelets. Some of the larger eyelet holes will be filled in with Ayreshire needlelace fillings. Monday, 17 November 2014. Still a lot of trailing to go, but I can now also work on the body of the peacock.

Saves9: June 2014
http://saves9embroidery.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Thursday, 26 June 2014. Having completed the central elements, apart from the hound that I'm thinking about, I've moved onto the supporting dolphins. The crown is known as a celestial crown and has stars at the top of each point. These I've just done in DMC Diamante thread in straight stitches to keep the look light and in proportion. The dolphins has black silk satin stitched eyes and nostrils and his scales are laid and couched gilt passing. Once the tail is done - more tight turns! Friday, 20 June 2014.

Saves9: May 2014
http://saves9embroidery.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Thursday, 29 May 2014. First I decided to applique the silk brocade onto the canvas. That provides some support both when I make the seams and in the long term. I also slipped a piece of fine linen over the metal threads behind my embroidery to protect the silk lining from rubbing against them. Once stitched I applied diluted pva round the edges to stop the canvas fraying when I cut it. Green silk brocade back. Sewing the lining in. Then the metallic bobbin lace made by Dianne from Gawthorpe. You lose so...

http://saves9embroidery.blogspot.com/2015/06/owls-progress.html
Friday, 12 June 2015. The owl's wings are made up of a variety of stitches and patterns. Having done the french knot stars the lower wing is a trellis of satin stitch and detached chain with french knot centres. The feet and long tail feathers are variations on satin stitch. Completing the tail feathers. Long and short wing feathers. 13 June 2015 at 00:54. Its coming together beautifully, and I love his feet! 13 June 2015 at 02:22. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Saves9: December 2014
http://saves9embroidery.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Friday, 5 December 2014. I'm working the last stages of my Whitework now but probably the most scary. First a section of drawn thread work. Random widths of threads were removed and hemmed with traditional hemstitch or herringbone hemstitch then worked with knotted, twisted or woven fillings or surface embroidery - here feather stitch. Now I am working detached leaves and the head feathers then I should be ready to cutaway the linen to reveal the embroidered net. My hand shakes thinking about it! Trapped...

Saves9: January 2014
http://saves9embroidery.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 28 January 2014. Here's how the Mrs Delaney sampler is going. As the poppy came to a bit of a hiatus, I started on some of the flower sprays. So far nothing seems botanically correct but we'll see! Labels: Mrs Delaneys court dress. Wednesday, 22 January 2014. Eighteenth Century Embroidery and all the rest! So, New Year and new project. With some flowers from Mrs Delaney's court dress. This was embroidered by a well connected Georgian widow and artist. No pressure then! So I am now just cracking ...

Saves9: Church work
http://saves9embroidery.blogspot.com/2015/07/church-work.html
Saturday, 18 July 2015. I've been doing a bit of ecclesiastical work recently. A little while ago I was asked to make a stole for a priest's ordination ceremony. The on ly stipulation was that it had to reference Durham where they had studied. St Cuthbert's cross seemed the obvious choice! The stole is mid calf length in cream damask, all hand stitched and with the cross appliqued on in red and gold silk dupion with metal threads. Alms bag ready to make up. 20 July 2015 at 04:11. Saves9: July 2014
http://saves9embroidery.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 15 July 2014. The cushion front is completed and waiting to be made up. So, keeping busy with jobs I have to do, I'm now working a chair seat cover for a friend. Sadly, not my own design, but one from Beth Russels's book of Morris inspired designs. This one is taken from Celandine. It is worked on 14 count canvas with Appletons crewel wools. Starting at the centre. Seems I can't get away from tent stitch this summer! Progress after three days. At least I got a new large slate frame out of it!

Saves9: June 2015
http://saves9embroidery.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 24 June 2015. I started working a beadwork sampler at the end of last year, after I finished my Magna Carta panel. I used Shelley Cox's RSN Bead Embroidery. Book to work these samples with canvas work stitches. The beads are fairly random - what I had or got hold of locally. It is quite difficult locally to get hold of a nice variety of very small seed beads, the internet has loads but can be a bit bewildering until you know what you want. Rice stitch and Smyrna. Thursday, 18 June 2015. The fi...
