https://lifeinz.wordpress.com/2014/12/22/christmas-toffee
This year I have felt extremely late and disorganized with everything Christmas. So it was only yesterday I got around to making some of the traditional Christmas sweets that is a must for Christmas eve. However, as i didn’t have all the ingredients at home I was glad to find a recipe without the fresh cream, and it was just to pop it in the microwave. Me like! Here’s the recipe for the microwave toffee. Toffee, or kola in swedish, nicely wrapped. My mums handwritten recipe. December 22, 2014. You are co...

Stop the public stripping of women! – LIFE IN Z(AMBIA)
https://lifeinz.wordpress.com/2015/05/22/stop-the-public-stripping-of-women
Stop the public stripping of women! This week it happened again; a young woman was stripped naked in public for wearing clothes some deemed too revealing (apparently a mini skirt and top revealing her back). There have been a number of similar incidents around Lusaka in the last year and every time I hear about another one my blood starts to boil. Who are these men who think it’s in their power to decide what is suitable and not for a woman to dress? If we as women aren’t going to fight for our rig...

Sunday evening and my dad asks me during their weekly call if I’ve heard anything about the Swedish journalists? You might ask why Sweden cares? Did they get set up? She goes on to say:. 8220;So I was actually in Zambia to investigate what happened to the Swedish taxpayers’ money that we want poor people to have, to help them to have a better life and I mean, that man [Ndambo] is actually partly paid by Swedish funding and he uses that money, my money to stop my reporting? 8216;nolle prosequi’. Child offender now a champion. A famous singer and convicted child defiler is pardoned by the president after serving a mere year of his 18 year sentence. What message does that send to our young girls? Samba Yonga sums it up well, we are saying it’s ok:. Samba Yonga - Vishinganyeka. Illustration by Angel Phiri. It seems being a girl, still developing mentally, physically and emotionally, means precious little in this country. It means we are saying it’s OK. Share on Facebook (Opens in new window). Click...

My fantastic four – LIFE IN Z(AMBIA)
https://lifeinz.wordpress.com/2014/09/08/my-fantastic-four-photography
I gathered my children last week for a siblings photos shoot, and boy was that a challenge! We had to try again the following day as I only got three out of four in on it the first day! These are some of the photos i took. I’ve been hoping that this is something i would be able to do eventually, but I can see I’m going to need a lot more practice to work with (my) children. At least it was a lot of fun! Share on Facebook (Opens in new window). Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window). Notify me of...

A collection of my musings, mutterings and mumbles. Friday, 12 February 2016. Gratitude List: The Joys of Puppy Love. It's no secret that I absolutely adore dogs. I brought my two puppies, Zsa Zsa and Pepper, from the farm in Kinoni to Kampala, right after New Years. Biscuit. Just look at that face! I grew up with dogs being a part of the family, but until now, the responsibility was always with my parents as regards the vet, food etc. Now it's all on me. The pups were back home, happy and healthy. Peppe...

A man’s “right” to sex? The background to this post is the same singer and child defiler that was recently pardoned (see previous post) and released from prison. It took him only four days till he’s true colours came out and it was reported that he had beaten up his wife for refusing him sex. Lusaka based Rev. Moses Lungu.
