Wide Open Wallet: Millionaires drive minivans
http://wideopenwallet.blogspot.com/2008/05/millionaires-drive-minivans.html
An honest look at family finances. Thursday, May 8, 2008. This article was inspired by Kristy over at Master Your Card. And her post about how you can’t judge a book by it’s cover. She talked about how you can’t tell someone’s net worth by looking at them. A fancy car and expensive clothes don’t mean anything. I was just thinking today how if everyone had their net worth on the back window of their car it would really cut into the Hummer market. Kristy’s article reminded me of my dad and his friends.

Wide Open Wallet: Saving will set you free.
http://wideopenwallet.blogspot.com/2008/03/saving-will-set-you-free.html
An honest look at family finances. Thursday, March 27, 2008. Saving will set you free. I wrote this article as part of the group writing project over at We're in Debt. Did you know you can buy peace and freedom? Every dollar you pay toward debt buys you freedom. Every dollar saved buys you peace. Isn’t that what everyone wants? Peace and freedom, aren’t those things worth working for? I think the easiest way to build up your emergency fund is to set up your direct deposit. 8220;But what about my debt?

Wide Open Wallet: Opportunity costs of having a baby
http://wideopenwallet.blogspot.com/2008/06/opportunity-costs-of-having-baby.html
An honest look at family finances. Thursday, June 5, 2008. Opportunity costs of having a baby. Who is that poor poor woman? Yup, that's me just days before the birth of my son. Ok, now that I'm done embarrassing myself. Jonathan over at Master Your Card recently wrote about how to get your finances in order before you have a baby. I agree with everything he said. I've also explored the cost to raise a child. But both his post and my own neglected one huge cost. Your ability to work may be reduced. I know...

Living Almost Large: Free Upgrade or Downgrade?
http://livingalmostlarge.blogspot.com/2008/03/free-upgrade-or-downgrade.html
This is a blog by a 20-something in the northeast trying to figure out how she and her DH can find their way to true financial freedom. Friday, March 28, 2008. Free Upgrade or Downgrade? I have to laugh about this because it's so dumb. DH is away on business and signed up to rent a compact Ford Focus. Got a great deal with budget rent a car, and was planning staying an extra day to go snowboarding. Well turns out the smallest car they had available was the Ford Edge. Moral of the story? He could always n...

I guess as a follow-up to " my secret shame. Is the question "are store credit cards - yea or nay? I've got 4 and I am not sure I should cancel them or not. I don't use any but I do get some nice coupons from them. But are these the reasons people like store cards? Or do they actually shop there? Otherwise, it wo...
