Saving the Wilde Life. Living lightly, laughing often, loving much. Monthly Archives: July 2011. Make a rollaway nest box. July 24, 2011. Step one: Obtain one of these boxes. Dog optional. Step Two: Make a sketchy plan on some scrap paper. I did mine kind of fancy and involved-like. You don’t have to go to so much effort. Step Three: Try to … Continue reading →. July 24, 2011. Saving the Wilde Life. Living lightly, laughing often, loving much. Long time no post. →. September 11, 2011. The hills are aliiiiiiiiiiive. with the SOUND of springtiiiiiime. So there I was, mooching around the garden after pruning some grape vines, checking the trees over to see what needed pruning immediately. Lots of broken branches and crossed wood, ooh look at that one, mm there’s another one there, which should I try first? Mmm maybe I better try to get that netting off again. And the fig tree wil...

Saving the Wilde Life. Living lightly, laughing often, loving much. Apples. →. Long time no post. October 23, 2011. Ah, it has improved already. It just needed a goodly dose of sleepy cuteness. Or perhaps, TWO goodly doses. They are like, “What? Psh Back to snoozin”. In other news (actually, the only news, so far, in this whole post) I have been trying to get my houseyard slashed back to short grass or mulched garden beds because it is snake season now! This of course put me in a fit of helpless giggles ...

Barb'sBackyard: April. Time to get back into it all.
http://barbsbackyard.blogspot.com/2015/04/april-time-to-get-back-into-it-all.html
Wednesday, April 1, 2015. April Time to get back into it all. Had a birthday, lots of pressies some of which were seedlings for the gardens. Great, I was needing these and now they are planted and the gardens are looking good too. Husband has put in a new watering system so it will be easy to keep everything watered. The young chickens have been out of their pen since before I left so at least the slater population is down. Downside to escapee chookens? April 1, 2015 at 6:47 AM. My husband would clean th...

Sunday, December 28, 2014. Bees and Bung Eyes. I'm sitting here with a bung eye. It doesn't hurt but does feels uncomfortable. I didn't get punched in the face. I didn't crash into a wall. Well, I did crash into a wall but it didn't give me the bung eye.I did do a stupid thing and something that the husband will laugh at when (if) I tell him about it. What did I do? One day, a long time ago, in a dark dark forest.Oops, wrong story. Links to this post. Sunday, December 21, 2014. Inside the house is full o...
Barb'sBackyard: Lost Them Again.
http://barbsbackyard.blogspot.com/2015/01/lost-them-again.html
Thursday, January 15, 2015. I *lost* my glasses again tonight. If it happens again I might have to seriously think about getting another pair. A spare pair. But they are too expensive to have sitting around just in case I do something stupid and lose the ones I wear all the time so I will think on it some more. And in the meantime hope that I don't knock these ones off again. How did they fall off this time? January 16, 2015 at 2:00 AM. I always put my glasses in the same spots- shelf in bathroom, by tab...
Barb'sBackyard: Fire Warnings
http://barbsbackyard.blogspot.com/2015/01/fire-warnings.html
Saturday, January 31, 2015. I've had the sprinklers on all night so the paddocks are wet but suppose I better have a coffee and get ready to leave, just in case we too have to get out quick. After this I will make sure that there is a BOB ready to go, like there should be, like I have been going to do for years. It's now 5.30AM. I was just outside having a look, seeing if I should be doing anything. What though? I have wallet, water, food for the day, normal stuff that is usually in there. We're fine out ...

Me, I'm not doing my stuff either but I can't blame the rain! I have picked the last of the Grannys! I have Chokos. Not many are big enough to pick yet but there are heaps of flowers and maybe 1/2 dozen that will be ready within the week. Say they did, we have a fridge full. Venison on the barby. By next month ...

Friday, February 27, 2015. We've got another hot day here yesterday, it's starting to get a bit much for me. Still it is Summer so only what is expected. But all the same.it is hot here. We had another overgrown messy area out the back, along the fence. This was a garden edged with rocks and over the years has had different stuff planted which eventually becomes overgrown with grass. The comfrey is now gone, I put that in a big pot and dumped it in some shade. A Passionfruit vine will be planted here in ...

Saturday, January 24, 2015. Planning, Doing.Planning to do. Three weeks in to the new year and things are much the same. That means the gardens need work, the house needs work, I need work. But hey, what would I do if I didn't have all this stuff to work on aye? Umm, what would I do? Probably spend more time than I do now on this thing so just as well I'm not up to date with it all yet. No bees to worry about while I/we steal their honey. How about you, what plans do you have for this year? Honey Shack, ...

Friday, October 31, 2014. Some Of What I Did. I was away from home for a couple of days and when I get back here I find that the computer is in the shop with some nasty virus. Not too pleased as I had stuff that I planned doing but it had to wait until this evening. That included the finishing of this. After the last post someone wanted a more detailed read so I'll try and remember what has really been happening. We have too many roosters again but not for much longer I hope. I have been out for lunch qu...

Saving the Wilde Life. Living lightly, laughing often, loving much. Did you miss me? September 22, 2012. All hail the prodigal blogger, for she returns in a glorious rain of, um… rain. It was raining today, so I stayed inside mostly, and did self-sufficienty house-type things, and oh BY THE WAY I have internet connected to my HOUSE now – the sum of which is tada! Me here in your face. Poor you. Oh well. This is what I have done so far today:. Started simmering some soap nuts in water to make liquid soap.

Saving the World... One Craft at a Time!
Saving the World. One Craft at a Time! Sunday, August 12, 2012. Old Picture Frame Into A New Picture Board. This craft project is a great way to give an old picture frame hanging around the house a new look by turning it into a picture or message board. I decided to do this craft because I changed the theme of our extra bathroom from monkeys to pirates and wanted a unique way to display fun pirate party and Halloween costume photos. Get your ribbon all measured out before you begin to glue them. Once...
