Our Favorite Things: Guiltily Grateful
http://nkbsfavoritethings.blogspot.com/2015/05/guiltily-grateful.html
Tuesday, May 19, 2015. Life is sailing by so fast these days! My little Nathan James is already three months old! Can you believe it! Anyways, here's the short version of our lives right now. During the day he loves sleeping in the carrier or snuggling down with mom and Emma to take a nap. At his 2 month appointment he was 12 lbs! He's so fun and perfect and we love him to death! Emma and friends at the Magnuson Park. I've decided that my kids are doomed to forever be called by a million names. James...

Our Favorite Things: June 2015
http://nkbsfavoritethings.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Monday, June 29, 2015. For the last few months, I've been sensing that some trial had to be just around the corner. The title of my last post was "Guiltily Blessed" after all. James has been practically a perfect baby, and everything else was going smoothly as well. I actually lost sleep wondering when the horrible awful thing that was going to happen would finally hit! Though I felt something coming, I certainly never would've guessed what ended up happening. Here's the story:. We admittedly lost a lot ...

Our Favorite Things: October 2013
http://nkbsfavoritethings.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
Friday, October 4, 2013. I've titled this post "Surviving Seattle." So you're now thinking, "Ouch, is it really that bad? Okay, no :). But, it's a long story. Here goes. The place STINKS! Not literally, but really, is there anything to recommend a sullen, soggy, moldy, congested, spider infested, pay for parking, horrible traffic, expensive groceries, anti-children area? Can you tell I have mixed feelings? It would make my day. Okay, ready for something more chipper? Nate and I were very blessed to get i...

Our Favorite Things: January 2014
http://nkbsfavoritethings.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 21, 2014. The End, the Beginning, and George Bailey. Being my typical "still trying to figure this mom thing out" self, it usually takes me a week to get around to the "not-essential for survival" things on my to-do list, most of the time longer than that. So forgive my delay on this post. Here's the low-down on our Christmas this year. Nate had an awesomely long three and a half week break! This was much needed after a pretty tiring and difficult semester! Cool lights in Seattle :).

Our Favorite Things: April 2013
http://nkbsfavoritethings.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
Monday, April 15, 2013. Now, just to be clear, I'm not saying earning money, getting a great education, or having a great career and social life are bad things. In fact, I want all of those things for my family. What I am saying is that these things clearly are not more important than family or spirituality. How do I know this? Because I've seen first hand the blessings that come from putting God and family first. Emma with a cucumber in her mouth. Did I say that right? Okay, so there may have been a mom...

Our Favorite Things: November 2013

Thursday, November 21, 2013. Just Can't Put My Finger on It. Emma reading in her favorite chair :). She only looks like me when she's sulking haha :). She's already best buds with the Bishop :). Emma and Claire, Joey's daughter :). Hiking Camano Island, Nate showing Emma a jellyfish. The zoo is just around the corner! Emma doing yoga in church :). Monday, November 4, 2013. Okay, so I'm about to admit to everyone that I'm not perfect. Oh wait, you already guessed that! Well, I'll tell you anyway :). When ...

Our Favorite Things: March 2015
http://nkbsfavoritethings.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Wednesday, March 18, 2015. There is No Fear in Love: James' Birth Story Part 2. I feel so blessed to tell the story of how our little Nathan James joined our family. The story is quite remarkable, and it's been a crazy ride since. Even with the best of intentions, I ended up getting restless and cranky that my baby wasn't there yet, even though I was only 38 weeks pregnant. I had battle bruises in both arms for two weeks after my labor. When I got up to go to the bathroom my contractions went crazy!

Our Favorite Things: March 2014
http://nkbsfavoritethings.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Thursday, March 13, 2014. Okay, now that that is out there, let's be frank. LIFE IS REALLY HARD RIGHT NOW! Even as I type this I feel a pang of anger at myself for being so entirely pathetic! I love this extremely messy little girl :). So, why are things so hard? I'm going to face this problem broadly, starting with a false premise that has been wildly affecting my mental state and go from there. False Premise (aka "Stuck Point"):. Life is going to be EASY at some point. Haha no I'm not pregnant. I'm...
