Forage, Raise, Cook. Newer posts →. Mole Negro Grilled Burgers and Veggies. August 19, 2016. Amy here on a cloudy monsoon afternoon with a bounty of summer produce like long green chiles, Shishito peppers, okra, yellow squash and great tomatoes. It makes me want to grill and eat outside. But my new friends want to try Mano Y Metate Mole, and the last thing I want is to make a formal meal. I wondered if burgers seasoned with mole powder would work…. Grilled squash is one of my favorite foods in the whole ...

Forage, Raise, Cook. Poet’s Late Summer Smoothie – Savory or Sweet. August 7, 2015. There is so much poetry in nature. It is a poetry that speaks without words. Here’s some poetry I came across this morning while doing chores. Honeybee on a mint flower. From my garden: white strawberry flower and a strawberry fruit forming just below it. This plant is still producing in August! Honeybee at work on a strawberry flower; you can see her pollen sacks (on back legs) are being filled with strawberry pollen!
A Useful Desert Broom | Savor the Southwest:

Forage, Raise, Cook. A Useful Desert Broom. July 31, 2015. People complain that they want more green in their landscape. Desert broom is one option for bright green foliage. Desert broom is called escoba amarga in Spanish, and also called a weed by many. But I advocate you take a moment to consider this shrub more fully. Sad to say – some people think the only good desert broom is a dead one. Studies done on plant extracts show that desert broom is rich in leutolin, a flavonoid that has demonstrated anti...

simplicity
Loving Jesus, life, and writing. Taking it all in, and savoring the simple things in life. Wednesday, March 18, 2015. What's the next step? What college will I be attending? Will I go to college? What do I want to do with the rest of my life? Y'all, I can't decide if I want Captain Crunch or Frosted Mini Wheat's in the morning, much less the career path I want to take for the next fifty to sixty years of my life. Will you look down on me if I don't make the choice you wanted me to make? The letters from ...

Thursday, October 13, 2011. Y'all Look at this wreath. Is it not so pretty? I was browsing the West Elm website and came across this gorgeous feather wreath. And it's only $19! I know Christmas is still a solid 2 months away, but I already can't wait to decorate for the holidays. This puppy is going to take center stage and will be hung with some pretty ribbon on the mirror over my fireplace. Who knows, I may even dress it up by pinning a little cluster of holly leaves or something on it. I modified the ...

Savor the sweet
March 19, 2015. My baby, my firstborn turns four today. I almost can’t remember life BC (before children), but four years old screams “BIG.”. Whether it be watching through the window since she can now play by herself outside, or really being perplexed by the thoughtfulness of the things she says, I’m so aware that she’s really becoming her own person with her own likes and opinions (which are sometimes opposite of mine). Her own fiery, independent, yet loves-to-be -around-people person. March 16, 2015.
