Posts are typically structural supports, but also ornamental, such as cased openings. Sawmill Specialties manufactures posts from round stock, sqaure stock, or tree stock. Handwork such as a drawknifed surface on round stock and adz-hewn finish on sqaured timbers is an available option. For use against walls or ceilings, a flat surface can be sawed down the length of the piece. This simplifies construction with a flush fit.
