Murphy and O'Leary: Big Basin Camping - Sleeping in the dirt for 2 nights
http://murphyoleary.blogspot.com/2012/09/big-basin-camping-sleeping-in-dirt-for.html
Tales from the Underside. Wednesday, September 19, 2012. Big Basin Camping - Sleeping in the dirt for 2 nights. It always amazes me how much we love camping. We go out into the woods, stumble around in the dark putting up a tent, get covered in dust and dirt, sleep on an uncomfortable mattress, eat too much, drink too much, come home stiff, sore and talk about how we can't wait to do it all over again. Tinker and Fred enjoy a glass of wine after the tent ordeal is over. Merie and Heidi enjoying the trail.

Murphy and O'Leary: Prague Christmas Markets
http://murphyoleary.blogspot.com/2013/02/prague-christmas-markets_3.html
Tales from the Underside. Sunday, February 3, 2013. Good King Wenceslaus looked out. On the feast of Stephen. When the snow lay round about. Deep and crisp and even. Prague reeks of Christmas, Saint Nicholas Cathedral, Saind Wenceslaus Square, to honor the Good King, and the Christmas markets give a tinsel town feel to the place. We took a few days before Christmas to wander through the city and soak in the Christmas spirit. This is a view of the old town square from the top of Clock Tower. This is not t...

Murphy and O'Leary: October 2011
http://murphyoleary.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
Tales from the Underside. Monday, October 24, 2011. Camping at Big Basin. It was looking like 2011 would be a shut-out year when it comes to camping. However thanks to Tinker (Merie) and John, we managed to sneak in a weekend in Big Basin at their camp site. We broke the unwritten rule of camping - never put up a brand new tent for the first time in the dark. After a few failed attempts we finally read the instructions and got the tent upright. The mushrooms were enjoying the dampness as well. Thanks to ...

Murphy and O'Leary: February 2011
http://murphyoleary.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Tales from the Underside. Monday, February 28, 2011. Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow. Another 3 feet of snow last week so we could not resist making the trip to Tahoe. We arrived on Saturday morning to 3 feet of fresh snow. The weather was stunning to boot. Squaw valley is the perfect place to go when it has snowed a bunch because it is full of open terrain with lots of off-piste adventure. This picture was taken from the top of Siberia Express chair lift -. Best Ski conditions EVER. We have had 6 ...

Tales from the Underside. Sunday, January 23, 2011. The 11th Amendment - The Right to Ski on your Birthday. I have vowed never to work my birthday again. I have now enshrined in the MurphyOleary constitution the 11th bill of rights. We escaped to Tahoe to enjoy some way too early spring skiing. Note the happy work-free Friday faces. This photo was taken from the highest point of Heavenly Resort - 10,040 feet. Fred takes on the icy north facing slopes of Heavenly. Posted by Barbara Murphy. Christmas would...

Murphy and O'Leary: Poetry
http://murphyoleary.blogspot.com/2013/04/poetry.html
Tales from the Underside. Sunday, April 14, 2013. When God made little creatures. The rabbits and the mice. He made them all so carefully. So cuddly and so nice. The trembling nose and twitching ears. Each creature did he place. And sent them off down to the earth. To rule the human race. They climbed aboard the space ship. The rabbits and the mice. Brer rabbit hit the starter. And they soared towards the skies. Saint Peter swung the pearly gates. This little craft swept out. And gave a glorious shout.

Tales from the Underside. Tuesday, August 16, 2011. The Mount Tam Century. Http:/ www.marincyclists.com/Resources/Documents/100%20Tam.pdf. 5AM start in Los Gatos. We chose to drive there early in the morning, get a good breakfast inside us, lots of coffee and we hit the road . By 705AM we were checked in and ready to start pedaling. Mile 39 at 10.30 AM - Top of Mount Tam. Mile 73 we arrived in Olema, back out of the fog but feeling the drudgery of Highway 1. Still it was a good feeling knowing that o...

Murphy and O'Leary: May 2011
http://murphyoleary.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Tales from the Underside. Monday, May 16, 2011. Christopher just made his Confirmation last week. For those of you not familiar with Catholic sacraments, this is like the Bar Mitzvah of Catholicism. http:/ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confirmation. Fred was Christopher's sponsor and as such is responsible for a lifetime of teaching for young Christoper. Fred took the role very seriously so he decided to throw Christoper a pool party on Sunday. Grainne and I hung out at the bar and drank while Adrian swam. Later...

Murphy and O'Leary: March 2011
http://murphyoleary.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Tales from the Underside. Monday, March 14, 2011. Well actually, Jack has never been here before, but we soon plan to change that. Colman and Heidi and Jack came to visit for a week. Unfortunately it was not long enough and so many people wanted to catch up. This is the first picture of all the US based Murphy grandchildren. No Colman is not included in the count although he still is a child at heart. Here is a photo of all the kids playing poker. Heidi, Colman, Jack. Posted by Barbara Murphy.
