Roll-off-roof observatory - www.AstronomySite.com
http://www.astronomysite.com/diy-observatory/roll-off-roof-observatory
Skip to content ↓. Scott's astronomy-related website. The first observatory that I built was a roll-off roof observatory. We started with the mount. It was made by a friend of my father, who ran a company that built large signs. He constructed a very heavy steel pillar for us. We poured a large block of cement and anchored it down. Next task: frame the building. You can see there’s room along the back side for the computer table. Finally, a couple pictures of the completed observatory. Back to top ↑.

Skip to content ↓. Scott's astronomy-related website. Here is a picture of the framed observatory. We built it from welded steel, probably 2×2 inch bar stock. The turret was made from smaller bar stock, probably 1×1. Here is a detail picture of the turret under construction that shows how the top goes together. A few highly recommended friends. SBSat: Satellite Tracking and Remote Control for Meade LX200 Telescopes - www.AstronomySite.com

Skip to content ↓. Scott's astronomy-related website. SBSat: Satellite Tracking and Remote Control for Meade LX200 Telescopes. Once upon a time, I wrote a program to track satellites using the LX200. At the time it was quite useful, but as the last time I worked on it was in 1998, I’m sure it’s fallen quite a bit behind the times and there is more modern software out there. I’d suggest googling to something more recent. A few highly recommended friends. Scott Baker's Website. Sweet icons by famfamfam.

DIY Observatory - www.AstronomySite.com
http://www.astronomysite.com/diy-observatory
Skip to content ↓. Scott's astronomy-related website. I built a couple of observatories to house my telescope. The first one was a roll-off-roof observatory and the second was a rotating turret. This page will have links for both of them. The turret observatory was my second attempt at building a DIY observatory. It was made from a welded steel frame with steel panels. The first observatory I built was a traditional roll-off roof observatory. Here are some construction pictures. Scott Baker's Website.
