Loyola Stritch School Medicine-Around the World. Saturday, July 31, 2010. And I am scared. I’ve never felt disease so close to me before – disease is the inescapable presence, bearing down on me in every room. Everywhere I look, I see it. I feel it. I step outside and gasp for air, but still, it’s there – the stench, the sickness, the death and the rot. And I don’t know what to do. The First Baby, Cont. I'm sitting in our cabin now, having showered and rested, and I still feel so shaken, so afraid. I...

Loyola Stritch School Medicine-Around the World: Zambia
http://stritchimmersion.blogspot.com/2011/07/zambia.html
Loyola Stritch School Medicine-Around the World. Saturday, July 2, 2011. We were able to spend three weeks working in a rural clinic in Lumezi. While in Lumezi, we were able to screen patients, do rounds with local physicians, help with deliveries, aid in surgery, counsel patients on their HIV status, and help with countless other tasks. This experience truly re-focused me on why I went into medicine. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Excerpts from my Bolivia Journal. Centro Medico Humberto Parra.

http://stritchimmersion.blogspot.com/2011/08/to-trace-path.html
Loyola Stritch School Medicine-Around the World. Monday, August 1, 2011. To Trace a Path. Here's an excerpt from my journal that I wrote on 6/17/11:. I'm sitting in my sister's office right now to write this entry, then I'm grabbing a tricycle (a motorcycle with a sidecar for the passenger, which is how everyone travels) to the hospital in a few minutes for my second day, where I was told I would help run the E.R. Rather nervous about this, game face! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). To Trace a Path.

Has it really only taken the past 18 months of medical school or did I learn this customs earlier in my life? Breakfast ...
