The Rikon Expedition: August 2010
http://rikonexpedition.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Onward to the Golden State-. I haven't written anything in a long time, pretty much since before we even left Taiwan which was several weeks ago. In the past 4 weeks, this is what's happened:. Massive road trip across the country, first time driving a Uhaul truck, while pulling Aaron's Jeep. As soon as we arrived at our school with a moving truck, one of the teachers came by to see if we wanted a kingsized mattress and boxspring. Yes please! And then I honed in on my craigslist investigation skills and r...

The Rikon Expedition: December 2010
http://rikonexpedition.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Soon after we arrived in Taiwan and started work, we were dismissed from work to have a holiday over most of January and part of February in celebration of Chinese New Year. Everything in Taiwan shuts down, down to almost every last grocery store so generally it's just a good idea to skip town. And skip town we did. We flew to Thailand. In March, our English school finally opened. We began to get into vintage photography. And Aaron made friends with some local "herpers" and they would go s nake hunting.

When I was fourteen. But their reactions to hearing the essay were priceless. They thought I made it all up. Did I mention that I was a tomboy? I think a lot of my competitive nature came from my internal drive to show the world that girls can do things as well, if not better, than boys. Up until this point, I had been right about this, but around this age, my guy friends began to change and biceps would appear out of nowhere. Where were my biceps? 8221; and I hung up as fast as I could. I do remember se...

The Rikon Expedition: April 2011
http://rikonexpedition.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
My heart goes out to all my friends and Tennessee family, for enduring such frightening storms that created damage so unbelievable that the landscape looks like something out of a sci-fi end of the world movie. It's a terrible tragedy but makes me thankful for the actual important things in my life. Posted by Rika Meyer. Links to this post. Spring is here, the rain has ceased, and it takes every ounce of self control for me to keep myself inside. So make your reservations today! Posted by Rika Meyer.

The Rikon Expedition: Composting for Dummies
http://rikonexpedition.blogspot.com/2011/07/composting-for-dummies.html
Also, I have a huge sage bush but have run out of ideas on what to use sage for other than the Thanksgiving or Special K loaf. Since my garden has sucked me into the mysterious world of the growing seed, I’ve been experimenting with organics and most recently have bought a big old flipable composter. Since none of this stuff is common sense to me, I’ve had to read up and research all the right and wrong ways to garden. Below (for all you nerds out there! Use 25% Nitrogen, 75% Carbon. I figure that this c...

The Rikon Expedition: Snippets from a boarding school dean's wife...

Snippets from a boarding school dean's wife. During the shoot, all the girls hammed it up. We had so much fun, and I’m pretty sure I’m going to miss all of them over the summer. I hope so badly that they find hope and meaning in life, more than just makeup and boys. But how different was I when I was their age? Posted by Rika Meyer. I want some students to cook me food! Glad to hear you and aaron had a good first year, or at least thats the way it sounds :). June 13, 2011 at 1:44 PM. Life now and thus far.

Meyer Christmas Newsletter 2011. Hello friends and family! After returning from a delightful trip back east to see my family, we got right back into school/work/fun mode. We met up with some friends, Kelli and David from Tennessee-to go snowboarding in Tahoe one weekend, and are still in shock that we live that close to glorious snowboarding. We were so glad to have a real life summer break! By fall with school starting, both Aaron and I threw ourselves into work and the last three months have been a blu...

Le Tour de Home! In an attempt to lure you all here to come visit, I will take you now on a virtual tour of our abode. This is a pretty big deal because we never clean it this clean. Maybe I shouldn't be saying that. I just don't like to clean that much-it really is my personality! And just think, if you come to visit, we will break out the big guns and get it back to the way that it looks on the Internet. Really. Just for you. Feel special now, k? This is my office. Aaron gets his own office in the ...

The Rikon Expedition: January 2011
http://rikonexpedition.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
It's been a while since we've updated, but I wrote this a few weeks back. Please forgive me! Although Nanna was confused and a little delusional when we visited for Thanksgiving, she never failed to offer me food or something to drink. Taking care of people is so innate for her that I don’t think she’ll ever lose that instinct. Posted by Rika Meyer. Links to this post. Yes siree.I have just launched a blog for my photo business, Rika Fotografia. The Facebook page. Read my current post on Rika Fotografia.
