The Pickering mainline has been extended from the Peeled Onion down the Stanislaus River canyon to Beardsley Flat, across the Stanislaus River and up the other side of the canyon. When we are not operating on the Sierra the Thursday night sessions are held on Steve Hayes’ WP Layout. Here’s a close up of the Crew Assignment Board. The yard jobs and the first 6- 8 road jobs are assigned before the session starts. As road crews finish a job they sign up for the next available job. Modeling the Sierra Railroad in Twain Harte, CA. This HO scale model railroad is based on the Sierra Railroad that started its long and glorious history in 1897 and is still in operation today. The time frame for the layout is the Spring of 1955 when the first diesels (Baldwin S-12s) arrive on the railroad and the logging railroads of the Pickering and WSLCo are still going strong.
