my record house: September 2008
http://myrecordhouse.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 16, 2008. As shown. Trans-Canada records was a big player in Quebecois pop back the mid-60s through the disco era, releasing records under their own imprint, as well as distributing tons of other labels. I think they were eventually absorbed into the Quebecor group. And to all two of my readers, it's good to be back! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Simple template. my record house: Audible Faults
http://myrecordhouse.blogspot.com/2012/04/audible-faults.html
Saturday, April 7, 2012. Found in a copy of The Leather Nun's Cool Shoes/I Wish 45. I've often wondered how a defective record could meander its way from the UK to a Toronto Goodwill store, where I bought the single about a year after it was released. The funny thing is, the record plays fine, so maybe the quality control inspector was editorializing. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Simple template. my record house: January 2012
http://myrecordhouse.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Monday, January 30, 2012. Kinda creepy-cool harmonica group sounds. A pile of Dave Clark 5 45s I picked up at the Goodwill. Seems Rita had excellent taste in beat combos. Sunday, January 29, 2012. I think I'll just post label shots to this blog. With the occasional witticism. Very occasional. Friday, January 27, 2012. So was Ronnie Hawkins the first rocker with his own label? These sides are from 1965. Skip ahead 20 or so years for this next one. This is my current favourite record. But this is way cooler.

my record house: RB Library
http://myrecordhouse.blogspot.com/2012/03/rb-library.html
Friday, March 9, 2012. Now that I'm devoting all my potential blog time to posting on 45cat. I'm unearthing all kinds of oddball stuff from my record, um, accumulation. Actually, the entire accumulation is oddball. For example, these excellent radio library discards. It's cool that these were the actual records played on air. Also love the RCA-supplied filing sleeves. Wonder if any remnants of this library still exist at the station? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

my record house: April 2008
http://myrecordhouse.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, April 17, 2008. From 1971. While I could find no evidence of controversy or best-sellerhood, this novel does. Attempt to rip the lid off the pop world, albeit in a kind of spottily-researched and lecherous way. Chronicling the rise of four cliches known as The Scorpions: singer Jack Millyon (master manipulator, primary trangressor/bad influence, great interviewee), drummer Jon Barry (drug psycho/lyricist) , keyboardist Vic Andover (the 'sensible' one - he's married! And for his part, Paul Tabori.

my record house: February 2009
http://myrecordhouse.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
Saturday, February 21, 2009. Bullet Belts and Blue Socks. An awe-inspiring picture sleeve of Hanny en de Rekels' Mario. On the Dutch pop charts back in '72. Love how the Rekels are arranged by facial hair, and that their uniforms allowed for beltware creativity. Note also that a previous owner penned "A" and "B" on each (identical) side of the sleeve, so they'd get the record back in there properly every time. If you think the getups here are over the top or goofy in any way, check out this.
