Under the mulberry tree: Adios Alice
http://alicebackyard.blogspot.com/2010/10/adios-alice.html
Under the mulberry tree. Friday, October 22, 2010. The wildflowers are blooming like I've never seen them before. Mulberries are dripping from the tree. The garden and the vegetable crisper is full of produce. The olive trees flowered for the first time. Hopefully the many posts in this blog will serve as a resource to those who come to this town and wonder what and how they will grow food. Who knows? Will document this journey. Whoo hooo! Chris Brock (under the Chestnut tree). October 22, 2010 at 4:44 PM.
Under the mulberry tree: July 2010
http://alicebackyard.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
Under the mulberry tree. Saturday, July 31, 2010. So after having spent many days looking into the hothouse and frowning, looking a bit closer and wondering wether all the seed was bad - the tomatoes have all popped up. The 3 days of 25 deg plus weather has been responsible for that. Lets hope somebody gets something out of the many pots crammed into the hothouse. I'm going to have to start evicting plants soon. What else is going on? I have not quite finished my last jar from August lasy year. We also p...

Celestequest: December 2010

Wednesday, December 29, 2010. Kalara took advantage of two things last night, the downpour after the thunderstorm and the fact that it was too warm to rug the pony trio. Using her decisive horse sense (horses are only sensible when they decide to be) she knew today would be clear and sunny so she attempted a glare-reducing mudpack just like Bear Grylls'. Monday, December 27, 2010. Turning up the heat. More of the same is forecast for tomorrow, Total Fire Bans, heat, mozzies and sun. The freezer has b...

Monday, October 1, 2012. I am hoping today is actually the Queen's Birthday Holiday otherwise I'm missing the first day back to uni after the spring mid-term break, which zoomed by like an escaped beagle. In an effort to just get on with it as it's 5 weeks until exams (thunder roll, psycho music). Today's study: the wonders of the mouth, dentition and differences between carnivores, ruminants and equines, why horses need dentists but don't actually like them. Places we like to visit.

The ungulates, being those animals with hoofs on the menus of those animals with claws, have adapted in many specialist ways to get away really fast from said animals with claws. This is because they cannot take other measures, such as flying or climbing trees.". Although not for lack of trying:. Saturday, September 29, 2012. Spot the kangaroo in this picture. Ginger’s Coffee Studio. Remember those orange vinyl chairs that your grandparents relegated to the back verandah because they were too loud for a modern kitchen? Or the warty green glass vase in the china cabinet? You know the one, nestling near the sugar pot decorated with geometric orange and brown fruit. These are the items you’ll need when you start your vintage lounge bar and coffee studio. But it has a good texture. Out of 5 snorts). Ginger’s Coffeee Studio. Gluten Free Apple Bun. Foodie Dice →.
Fruit picking at Bilpin – apples and plums | Hoglet K
https://hogletk.wordpress.com/2013/03/16/fruit-picking-at-bilpin-apples-and-plums
Fruit picking at Bilpin – apples and plums. Crisp, sweet baby apples are one of autumn’s greatest pleasures. And they’re even fresher if you pick them yourself. We’ve picked apples in Bilpin before. Orchard. This time we tried Pine Crest. Orchard across the road. Both orchards are frequented by families and the occasional tourist bus. The competition between them doesn’t seem to be too fierce, because the farmer we met was joking about which orchard was tidier. We ate almost all of our fruit fresh rather...

Of Scarecrows and Scots
Of Scarecrows and Scots. The writings of Barry Yelton, author of Scarecrow in Gray, a Civil War Novel and Season of the Crow, a novel of the Civil War Reconstruction era. Tuesday, August 11, 2015. The Confederate Flag and Racial Strife. Here is a major news flash; racists also fly the American flag. Lots of disreputable outfits like to wrap themselves in Old Glory; it is a sort of fig leaf for their twisted views. Some southerners have such a resentment for that sort of treatment, that they fly the flag ...
