Making it sing | Scattered Cloud

Fast Company – Future of Travel. March 2, 2010, 2:18 am. Filed under: Project Development. The heart of this project is based around the idea of location-specific learning opportunities – the Wikitude app that I talked about before. So, what is the system I’m proposing then? The key components that rely on the cloud in my proposal are as follows:. Ability to recognise the geographic location of the user, and use it to filter through potential learning opportunities available. The idea is that augmented r...

Fast Company – Future of Travel. March 6, 2010, 5:14 pm. Filed under: Project Development. Had a presentation on Wednesday, which I worked like an absolute dog to produce – spent the night in the uni paper office knocking together a flash animation to explain my concept through, and then went straight into uni to pitch it. No rest for the wicked, as they say…. Leave a Comment so far. Feed for comments on this post. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Address never made public).

If you prefer Charlie Brooker to Wikipedia, then I’ve also selected the following article for your perusal – Brooker in Guardian. This leads me on to the next bit of technology, which is called Wikitude. 8211; an iPhone app that allows you to overlay the contents of Wikipedia across the world. It’s one of the coolest uses of an iPhone I’ve seen so far (aside from Wurdle, of course). Or using a rollercoaster?

Fast Company – Future of Travel. A wee catch up. March 1, 2010, 5:06 pm. Filed under: Project Development. Apologies for those hanging on my every word – I had to divert attention away from the project to finish off the Stoplifting. Using cloud computing to mediate extra-curricular learning will help this situation in a number of ways:. Children not being confused by multiple teaching methods, by ensuring that learning opportunities in homework relate to the methods of learning they use in class. Create ...

Fast Company – Future of Travel. Since you’ve been gone…. April 21, 2010, 4:16 pm. Filed under: Project Development. So as I’ve mentioned on my other blogs, I got the mumps over Easter, which put a bit of a downer on my work that I’d planned for this project. However, not one to mope around and be pathetic, I decided to use my time alone to piece together what will eventually become my introduction video for the project. Leave a Comment so far. Things about design and photography. On the other hand, some of the greatest examples of getting it right can be seen in bars. Previously, the best means of differentiation would very often stem from being the best place in a given locale to get the cheapest pint. The problem is, it’s very difficult for a small business to compete against huge organisations with enormous buying power in this respect. So why make that your focus? Photo by Jim Wilson. A ten dollar tale | James Porteous

Things about design and photography. A ten dollar tale. I interrupt normal, vaguely-serious blogging for something a little different. This is a post that can only be described as a yarn – a slightly obscure, design-related yarn, but a yarn nonetheless. But if you know me, you’ll know I love a good story, and this will all make sense. Hopefully. Then, with a wry smile across his face, he asked “where can you spend it? Image courtesy of Kurtixo). Failure is always an option | James Porteous

Things about design and photography. Failure is always an option. Recently, my bank pitched me into a well-worn friction point, which casual conversation reveals as something that a lot of people have faced at some point or other. My debit card got declined online, and so began my stumbling trek through a catalogue of missed opportunities, where my bank could have knocked my socks off with their insight and a kick-ass response to my problems. Instead, they screwed up my whole week. Trackback ( 0 ). Inter...

Make the hospital bring you the specialist (or the person in charge of your father’s care) as soon as possible. When you find that person, never leave a conversation (face-to-face or telephone) without some answers (likely not all) and another ‘touch-point’ when you will speak again. All the luck in the world to you and your family.

scattered clouds and dust
Scattered clouds and dust. Autobiography of a Baby Boomer. Tuesday, 22 November 2011. Title for this autobiographical blog. I fused the Japanese saying ' scattered clouds and disappearing mist'. Which means to disappear without a trace - with 'dust to dust'. It's fashionable to put your story on the web; we're all spewing out our little bit and I hesitate to join the crowd; I was never one for them but this is my little plot on earth where I can scribble to my heart’s content.
