有名な絵巻物は日本の四大絵巻物と称される 源氏物語絵巻 信貴山縁起 伴大納言絵巻 鳥獣人物戯画 など、挙げればきりが無いですが、ここでは特に私がお気に入りの絵巻物についてお話したいと思います。 絵巻は、漫画と少し違って、最初に文字 詞 ことば で物語を書き、そのあとにその内容を絵に表わしたものをついで巻物に仕立てています。 江戸時代には 寛永行幸記 御馬印 のような、活字や色刷りの絵巻物も登場しました。 代表的な絵巻物には、 源氏物語絵巻 信貴山縁起絵巻 伴大納言絵巻 鳥獣人物戯画 などがあります。 また、 枕草子 伊勢物語 源氏物語 宇治拾遺物語 なども有名な絵巻物です。 絵巻物では、 伴大納言絵巻 の 子どもの喧嘩 の場面、 信貴山縁起絵巻 の東大寺大仏殿の場面などが有名です。 つまり 絵 そのものや構図が、 奥行き より 展開 に、重点がおかれます。 伴大納言絵巻 の 子どもの喧嘩 の場面と、 信貴山縁起絵巻 の東大寺大仏殿の場面がその代表例として知られています。 絵巻物は昔は 絵物語 や 物語絵 と呼ばれていました。 ここで使われている 物語 という語句は 文学 を指していると解釈できます。
