2011 LONG BEACH RACE WEEK. FAR NIENTE SECOND AT LONG BEACH RACE WEEK. After 3 days of races in very challenging conditions FAR NIENTE was crowned as a solid second 2 points ahead of Santa Barbara Skan Dhiu and behind DARK STAR who win easily with 14 points ahead. Excellent work from the Farr 40 Team and also from the the 5.70 Little FAR NIENTE that get a 6th on a 21 boats fleet! CAL RACE WEEK 2011. 2011 Winner of the SBKH! Far Niente does it again and wins the 2011 edition of the Santa Barbara King Harbor race and arrived at 9:30PM at night in front of Skian Dhiu. Far Niente wins the Ullman Offshore Series 2011 for this event. Excellent crew work from Team Farniente who saw speed at up 15 knots with wind reaching 24 knots! Farr 40 Class USA West Coast. Slow start for FAR NIENTE at Midwinter, although "Skip" Baxter, a world star in trimming main sail was on board, Team Far Niente was rusty, with the driver suffering from back pain and learning to drive with a tiller. Competition was high with new comers and plenty of talents on every boat. Far Niente got two 3rd place, one First place but a 7th in race 3 that gave an overall 4th place! Campbell Cup was the end of the season and Team Farniente was in a crew changing mode with the main trimmer unavailable due to a sailing injury. Lack of practice and new crew were a good recipe for poor results.The level of racing of the overall fleet is now very high with competition showing all 11 boats crossing the finish line within one minute! Tuesday, September 25, 2012. Fall in the Colorado Rockies. Can I just tell you how lucky I am to live where I live? Seriously, I wake up every morning and can't believe I live in such a beautiful place. On Sunday after church, Bryan and I took the kids for a ride on the gondola to the top of Thunderhead Peak. There's a little nature trail up there, and I wanted to try. To get a family photo. I try to do this about once a year. My kids really hate it. They'll thank me some day, right? I love where I live!
