School in the Basement. Random posts about homeschooling or food. Curriculum planning …. May 11, 2015. Next year we’ll have a 9th grader, a 4th grader, and a 1st grader. They are all so different! We’re starting to plan curriculum, not that we always adhere to our plans, or any curriculum for that matter …. Obviously, there’s still a lot to nail down between now and this fall, but this is where we are now. From → Uncategorized. Larr; Lunchbox ideas. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here.

School in the Basement. Random posts about homeschooling or food. Recycled corrugated packing material pillow boxes. January 20, 2012. This is a pillow box. Cute, eh? I am always getting packages full of packing material I just KNOW has a higher purpose. I’ve had a roll of this corrugated packing material staring at me for a few months:. Yep That's corrugated packing material. I cut it into a square to pose for this photo. Put some tape on the inside of one of the sides parallel to the corrugation. But i...
Coq au Vin. Ish. | School in the Basement
https://schoolinthebasement.wordpress.com/2011/10/18/coq-au-vin-ish
School in the Basement. Random posts about homeschooling or food. Coq au Vin. Ish. October 18, 2011. This is not a recipe for Coq au Vin. Coq au Vin uses pearl onions and a lot of time, neither of which I have. (Honestly, the thought of cutting X’s into the ends of 20 pearl onions, blanching them, and peeling them individually makes me twitchy. If you’re into pearl onions, PEACE TO YOU, but I am way too lazy to peel 20 vegetables when I could just peel one. But I digress.). 35 I preheated the oven to 325F.

http://happyhomeschoolhippies.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
Tuesday, October 25, 2011. We are almost finished studying the Middle Ages using Story of the World. A history curriculum our whole family is enjoying. History is told in a narrative format, and the Activity Book. Includes map work and fun activities that even the little kids love. We try to do at least one of the activities for each chapter. History is probably the most fun subject at our house! We started with a cherry bark boil to relieve coughs:. The boys swallowed spiders to "rejuvenate the body":.

Monday, December 5, 2011. I think it started when she was still in the womb. While pregnant with my oldest daughter, Cami, I was diagnosed with hyperemesis. For those of you lucky enough to NOT know this term, it’s defined as “unrelenting, excessive pregnancy-related nausea and/or vomiting.” Think of it as EXTREME “morning” sickness 24/7 for the entire pregnancy. Love affair with cooking shows. A couple of years ago (while watching Food Network! Cami learned about BabyCakes. This year, BHB opened a new l...

Happy Homeschool Hippies: August 2011
http://happyhomeschoolhippies.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Sunday, August 28, 2011. Thank god we homeschool. A friend of ours told us about SARA, the process of emotion people experience during a serious illness. It stands for Sadness, Anger, Resentment and Acceptance. I'm already seeing signs of these stages in each of our kids. I wonder how they'd fare if we couldn't help them as we noticed these emotions in them. How would someone who doesn't know and love my 4 year old respond to his raging? Labels: why we homeschool. Thursday, August 25, 2011. Ask a homesch...

Happy Homeschool Hippies: What to virtual schoolers do when the internet breaks?
http://happyhomeschoolhippies.blogspot.com/2011/09/what-to-virtual-schoolers-do-when.html
Friday, September 23, 2011. What to virtual schoolers do when the internet breaks? Well, first we run around in circles in a complete panic because we can't remember where people gained knowledge before google. Then mama remembers that time before the internet existed. You know, when dinosaurs roamed the earth. She feels all nostalgic and pulls out BOOKS. Of course, some of us can't remember that time, so they start an art project making themselves a laptop. Well, one of us does. What to virtual schooler...
