This year the format is different, with all grade 1 bands playing a medley and an MSR in a qualifying heat on Saturday and the top 6 bands in each heat playing another medley and MSR contest on Sunday. Within a year after I started playing pipes, my band involvement had taken me to a good portion of the east coast of the United States, as well as a month-long trip to Scotland. I realized the potential for travel, and thus set the goal for myself to play my pipes in each of the 50 Unites States. First: Virginia (April 1999). Most recent: Washington (June 2013).
