Less Sets, More Time « The Science of Exercise

https://thescienceofexercise.wordpress.com/2013/03/29/less-sets-more-time

The Science of Exercise. Less Sets, More Time. When you enter a workout facility, what kind of people do you typically see? These are people who are there working out constantly and usually for hours, doing way too many sets (which I will go on to tell you, is completely unnecessary). So what if I could tell you that you do not need to be in the gym for hours and doing 10 sets of everything? Would you believe me? What about a way to maximize your time in the gym? Also, for those who are scared of enterin...

FAT is the Last to GO « The Science of Exercise

https://thescienceofexercise.wordpress.com/2013/06/25/fat-is-the-last-to-go

The Science of Exercise. FAT is the Last to GO. We all wonder how long we have to workout to burn off the fat from our bodies, right? If you look online for the answer, you might see a variety of responses, but it seems like the predominant answer is five minutes. Does the body really kick in to our fat reservoir that quickly? I don’t believe so. As I learned from the textbook, Anatomy and Physiology: The Unity of Form and Function, it can take up to 20 40 minutes for your body to begin burning fat!

Variation is Key « The Science of Exercise

https://thescienceofexercise.wordpress.com/2013/04/24/variation-is-key

The Science of Exercise. Let’s talk about some different workouts. It is critical for any person looking to workout multiple times a week to have a variety of different methods. An individual who goes to the gym a couple times a week and does the exact same exercises every time is not going to maximize the potential of the muscles. Variation in any weekly workout is critical. Do not be afraid to experiment. I would definitely recommend observing what others are doing in the gym and do not be afraid t...

Toning vs. Building Muscle « The Science of Exercise

https://thescienceofexercise.wordpress.com/2013/04/27/toning-vs-building-muscle

The Science of Exercise. Toning vs. Building Muscle. Many people head to the gym hoping to achieve what they want their body to look like, and I have heard of many instances of people not attaining their desired look. They then proceed to stop lifting weights either because they are not building enough muscle or are building to much making them look buff . This is for the people who want to look lean and the athletes who make long and repeated actions (long distance running). To achieve this, you mus...

Do you trust your supplements? « The Science of Exercise

https://thescienceofexercise.wordpress.com/2013/04/12/do-you-trust-your-supplements

The Science of Exercise. Do you trust your supplements? Countless money is spent every day on dietary and nutritional supplements. From the new comers to the workout world who are trying to get any edge they can to the experienced supplement drinking junkies who will be carrying their liquid supplement everywhere they go. However, if you look at the daily percentage and the amount of calories that you are ingesting by taking these supplements, it is absurd. The end result, if you continue to take the...

The Science of Everyday Life

The Science of Everyday Life. A blog by Andrew Lovsin. Thursday, May 14, 2009. Seriously though, good luck to everyone and I look forward to reading your blogs, although I can't guarantee I will understand all of it. Chapter 26:Unsteady As She Goes. Is somewhat of a phenomenon in baseball. It is the most unpredictable pitch in baseball, as it has relatively low rotation, quite unlike any other pitch. Will be hard to judge. Chapter 25: Just Walkin' in the Rain. The answer seems to be that the faster you r...
