Science of Fictitiousness: 52 Books in 52 Weeks: Week 2
http://scienceoffictitiousness.blogspot.com/2013/04/52-books-in-52-weeks-week-2.html
Can't we put a little science in our fiction? Tuesday, April 2, 2013. 52 Books in 52 Weeks: Week 2. I finished last week's early, and since Kat and I have been discussing reading "great classic books" lately, I'm putting up the book for next week:. Yeah, I've never read it. But I think it'll be good to have someone else reading with me. Also, gotta get back into fiction man. or I'll end up like my dad. Oh and notes on Screenplay? We'll see what happens. http://scienceoffictitiousness.blogspot.com/2013/04/52-in-52-week-45.html
Can't we put a little science in our fiction? Tuesday, April 23, 2013. 52 in 52: Week 4/5. Week Four was actually done really fast. Julia Sweeney is one of my favorite monologues She's sweet and funny and this book was totally worth it. Plus, it means I get to keep going with Emperor of All Maladies,. Which I'm still getting through. Luckily, David Sedaris has a new book, which shall be week 5:. Anyways, thus far this is going pretty well. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Science of Fictitiousness: Things You Forget
http://scienceoffictitiousness.blogspot.com/2012/09/things-you-forget.html
Can't we put a little science in our fiction? Wednesday, September 12, 2012. I was always annoyed when my parents said something to me about the way I should do things. "Always make your bed in the morning" was one of them, or the shock they displayed when I could do something. And as I've gotten older, I've started to find that these things may be true - now. Do such a thing. Nowadays, I can only just manage to walk and listen to something. I wonder if its about the complexity of thought I need to g...
Science of Fictitiousness: Summer Reading List
http://scienceoffictitiousness.blogspot.com/2012/06/summer-reading-list.html
Can't we put a little science in our fiction? Friday, June 15, 2012. But it occured to me that what I really should do is edit. I gave Bryan Fragmentation. I'm going to take a reading vacation at some point - hopefully the end of August when I'll have vacation time from my job, and here is a list of books I have put on my kindle (which I plan to actually start carrying with me again) in the hopes of reading by September 1st. 04 If a Pirate I must Be. 05 The Psychopath Test. 06 Water for Elephants.
Science of Fictitiousness: 52 in 52: Week 7/8
http://scienceoffictitiousness.blogspot.com/2013/05/52-in-52-week-78.html
Can't we put a little science in our fiction? Saturday, May 18, 2013. 52 in 52: Week 7/8. I am still working on Graceling. Which shouldn't be a surprise because it is, after all, fiction, and we all know my problems with fiction. But also this week has been insane in the realm of personal life decisions and doing the scary thing and jumping headfirst into the deep end without really remembering if I know how to swim. Anyways, week 7's book shall be. Week 8, I think will be:. View my complete profile.

Boiling Snow For Water: February 2011
http://boilingsnowforwater.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Saturday, 26 February 2011. Writing "Realist" Short Fiction. In our first seminar for Realist Short Fiction. Our teacher advised us to avoid writing anything sci-fi or fantasy. As you'd expect, we nodded in agreement. We all knew we'd signed up for a realist. Short fiction. And then my teacher said something which seemed wise, but I think was wrong. Now don't get me wrong, he wasn't saying it in a sneery, superior way - it was not belittling, and he didn't seem to have anything against. OK, well I'm stuck.

Monday, 20 June 2011. The Time of the Firebird. Good even, chidlings. So my cousin Rosey and I have started a short story blog, an idea inspired by the Merry Sister's of Fate (See the right hand panels) I'll use Rosey's introduction so you get the idea. We'll be posting the results here at. Also, I like to experiment with other forms and structures in my writing. Plus inspiration is always a tricky thing. Or, we both just use our computers. ;). Blogging a more satisfying experience thusfar. and I'm n...

Boiling Snow For Water: On Censoring in YA
http://boilingsnowforwater.blogspot.com/2012/03/on-censoring-in-ya.html
Sunday, 4 March 2012. On Censoring in YA. I find the trend in YA literature that assumes that teenagers are comfortable with bad language and sexuality disturbing.". I read on a review written by a Goodreads. I want to stand by this wonderful postcard:. BUT I CAN'T. PREPARE FOR CAPITOL LETTERS. I'm resisting the urge to use hundreds of expletives here, so I'll just go ahead and say one of them: FUCK OFF. I'm three years past teenage-dom and I was reading The Black Jewels. Boiling Snow For Water: The Heroines List: 2011
http://boilingsnowforwater.blogspot.com/2011/12/heroines-list-2011.html
Friday, 30 December 2011. The Heroines List: 2011. A Top Ten for this year. discovered through new books, old books, reinventions and re-readings. 10 Amy, The Passage. I've got a real thing for mysterious creatures - and Amy is certainly that. The Passage. Cronin doesn't tell us, and his hints and snippets that skirt outside these questions are often frustrating - but not once was I left with the feeling that Amy might be a two-dimensional character. 9 Violet Crawley, Downton Abbey. 8 Mirasol, Chalice.

Boiling Snow For Water: March 2011
http://boilingsnowforwater.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Friday, 18 March 2011. So that story I was whining about a few weeks ago. Anyway, when I finally. Got a good idea that weekend I'd been watching the trailer for happythankyoumoreplease. And it inspired this in some way. I couldn't say how. I just loved it in any case. Ahem I hope you like it. My foot really, really fucking hurts. Why would they have the doctor’s surgery at the top of the fucking building? I grip the railing and take a couple of breaths. If I could just walk. And who’s she. 8217; she asks.

Wednesday, 25 May 2011. Stuff That Happened This Week. Labels: jealous of people who dont faff around like i do. Stuff that happened this week. Tuesday, 17 May 2011. I went to see Beastly. Today and I can say in all honesty that I. Actually quite liked it. Didn't hate it. Or even dislike it. I liked the sentiment, and the set-up, but it really, really needed to work on the impact. As the title suggests, it's Beauty and the Beast. In other news, I've finished uni. Not ready to talk about that. Subscribe t...

Tuesday, 7 February 2012. What I'm not doing is closing down this blog, but I've been ruminating a bit on why I'm keeping it open, and I've decided I do. Boiling Snow For Water: January 2011
http://boilingsnowforwater.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Monday, 31 January 2011. Loved it, loved it, loved it. It was good idea. It's strange how just thinking. About the story can turn on that little recepticle in my brain that's for story ideas. This time it was a BIG connection (I think the entry in my note book started with HOLY SHIT(ake mushrooms) I know what they are! Too long* and its fantastic when I'm presented with ideas that will make the book shorter. Willing to try, even if the personal philosophy of it comes off as rather self-indulgent* *.

Tuesday, July 17, 2012. Ugly Star Trek Art is the Best! I thought that all of the ugliest Star Trek art was confined to 1970’s and 80’s-era fan fiction, but then I saw this. 1986 Star Trek Activity Book. It looks like marker-art Spock is gazing lovingly at Crayola “ape hands” Kirk while Doctor Bea Arthur hovers in the background. It’s also nice to see that outer space is rainbow colored now.
